Helper Kitten
The e version is live (meaning if you've bought it, you should get an email and likely a ravelry message saying you can update your file). I hope you all like it as much as I do! And now that that part is done, the putting books in envelopes part can begin. Levon has graciously agreed to keep me company while I work on this...very kind of him, it's a big project! (Don't worry, he only plays in the empty boxes, he doesn't get to mess with the books.) Oh, and because someone will ask, even if you missed out [...]
Trey
I've been feeling just the tiniest bit antsy. I think I have everything all lined up for the start of the preorder (Tuesday...with details coming Monday in case you like to study for the test ahead of time). I've made plans, I've made lists, I've done my homework, and I've done this sort of thing before. But despite this, I can't sit still or relax. So I decided to do something to distract myself. I wrote up the (shatteringly simple...really there's nothing to this) pattern for the cuff I showed you the other day. The 'remind me how much I [...]
Tonal
I should be displaying impressive industry. There are emails to write, yarns to select, stores to contact, swatches to knit. In short, there are things to do. But I regret to inform you that I will be doing none of those things for the next few minutes. Because there is also this. A rare moment of kitten calm. I'm going to bask in it while it lasts. I'm sure you'll all understand. A moment like this needs to be documented for posterity.
HMS Cardboard
A box came in the mail yesterday. A box of lovely yarn from Jaala over at Knit Circus. The timing was perfect, as it was a cold, gray, rainy afternoon and The Boy was out of town and my sinuses were giving me fits and the dishwasher was broken and being an adult was feeling hard. So a box of smooshy colorful yarn was the perfect remedy. And very soon, I will be a good blogger and tell you all about the yarn (and maybe even send some of it home with a few lucky souls). But today? Today I [...]
Quiescent
Quiescent: adjective marked by inactivity or rest The slipper pattern is out, and you can find it over on ravelry, should you feel the need to make yourself a pair! Oh, and on the off chance kittens aren't your thing, I do have the odd pic or two with no kitten. Let's see, perhaps this one will show off the knitting without the distracting influence of a Furry Overlord. Or maybe this one. I swear that ribbing makes even my (shamefully flat) feet look all curvy and graceful. Imagine what it will do for your lovely feet! These are made [...]
Assistance
The morning had one goal. Now it's not exactly a small goal, but it was something that could reasonably be accomplished if I was diligent. The goal was pictures. Pictures of the slippers, pictures of a technique I want I want to talk to you guys about, and pictures of our newest housemate. I started with pictures of the slippers. I got some snugly blankets, set everything up all tidy, and laid down the slippers. I turned to grab the camera and, when I turned back, there was Barry. Which made it more or less impossible to get just the [...]
True Love
Barry is a helpful and trustworthy kitten not normally prone to fits of yarn abuse. After I'd carefully laid out the rainbow of yarns to take the picture I showed you last time, he sauntered over to see if he could be of any assistance. I informed him I had the situation well under control and graciously sent him on his way. I looked back a moment later to find he'd stretched himself out next to the rainbow and carefully pulled out his very favorite yarn in the whole world. Out of the 56 yarns in the pile, he went [...]
Assistance
I don't believe in rushing. I'm firmly convinced that when you rush, you make stupid mistakes. If you feel like you should hurry, it's probably actually time to slow down and take a breath. Which is why, despite the rather frantic pace of the last few days (as explained by the last post), I decided I wanted to whip the current project off the needles to double check that I liked how it was coming together. I'm actually a big fan of this technique. There is (generally) no reason not to put your knitting on some waste yarn, pitch it [...]
Smaht Fahm (in pictures)
A little while ago, I got a handy dandy email telling me about a local event I might be interested in. An Alpaca Day. An Alpaca Day at a local farm. The Boy and I piled into the car, made a fortifying breakfast stop, and were on our way. We arrived to find there were indeed alpacas. Alpacas who were happy to receive our offerings. But alpacas were not the only critters to be found. There were also guard kittens. Fearsomely cute guard kittens (who very much liked their ears scratched). And chickens (who did not so much want their [...]
