Don’t panic!
Did you just knit your first shapely little friend? Are you feeling slightly troubled, wondering how to get from what you're holding in your hands to what you see in the pattern pictures? Well don't fret, it's supposed to look weird for a moment there at the end. You didn't make a mistake! When you're done, they'll look sort of like this. The one on the top right is a curved one, the one on the top left is a level one, and the one in the bottom center is one of the variations. You have to fold these in [...]
Yard trash
First, you wander the yard to collect whatever colorful weeds are available at the moment... Then you play with the aforementioned colorful weeds... Then you take pictures of them, possibly sneaking some knitting in while you're at it... Then, some time next week, you show them off in a pattern!
Lapse
My self control wavered. I needed one more. An embroidered one at that.
Done…probably
I think...think I shall call it done with these three. One is level and doesn't have anything in it to give it structure (yet is still surprisingly sturdy). One is level with shallower sides and does have something (in this case, the lid off a cat treat container, for we are nothing if not fancy) to keep it stiff. And one has swoopy sides just because I could and have insufficient restraint to keep myself from doing it. I'm picking testers later this morning (testing thread is up over here), and with any luck, will have this out late this [...]
Round, very very round
Oh, oh this is so satisfyingly ROUND. Just deeply round. And smooth. And just very very soothing. I have so far resisted the urge to pet it incessantly, but that's mostly because it still needs proper pictures, and I'm not allowed to manhandle the knits until after photos. But please know, it is requiring an uncharacteristic degree of restraint.
Creative blocking
I mean you can't really say I'm not committed to blocking. I've even put these absurdities on the internet for all to see. But really, it's a funny shape, and this is the best way to block it. Regardless of how absurd it looks in the moment...
Continuing shape
The very shapely shape continues to be a shape. You can watch it be shapeish over here...
Very shapey shape
Aaaand here's the one worked in the round. As usual, video version where we flop it around and wiggle it over here. For alas, the dictates of physics mean I cannot show you the top and bottom of this object at once in any sort of practical way. Here it is blocking... And the top, when released from its contraption. And the bottom. And the ongoing 'hey, here's how I think about this stuff, here's how the charts are structured' series on patreon is over here!
Shape is very shape
Shape is very shape...excellent shape qualities...absolutely and unquestionably a shape. This works better with the floppy around version, as seen over here. I'm doing a little thing over on patreon where I talk about how these come together...like how they take shape in my head and what the charts for them look like. Wander over if you're so inclined!
