Rumor has it that I’m technically a grownup.  The sort of person allowed to have a mortgage and drive a car and care for pets without any sort of outside supervision.  Yet somehow, I find myself hopelessly distracted by tiny, fluffy hearts.  I can’t claim to understand the fascination, but if you share it, the pattern for Palpitation is now out (and for the next few days, it’s 10% off on ravelry with the code SMITTEN).

The strangest part of this obsession is that I keep coming up with all sorts of things to do with the fluffy little beasts.  I found myself hanging them from branches.

And making them into bunting.

And a little garland.

And you can fill them with all manner of things.  Lavender to make your closet smell good, catnip to entertain the kitten overlords, dried beans or rice to make microwaveable hand warmers, even a rattle insert to make a baby toy (though honestly I’d put one of those in the catnip one too…the cats like it when their toys make noise).

Plus they’re easy to mail.  Put one inside a card and it squishes flat enough to slide right in an envelope.  You may need an extra stamp or two, but you can absolutely land one of these in a friend’s mailbox.

Each one takes between 25 and 50 yards of yarn and about two hours of knitting time.  They’re dead easy (if you can cast on, knit in the round, increase, and decrease you can make them) and clearly habit forming.  I think the hardest part is deciding what you’ll do with yours.  I’d love to hear from you in the comments if you already have a plan!

The pattern is out now, and you can use the code SMITTEN to get 10% off between now and Friday.  Just put Palpitation in your ravelry cart, click on the ‘use a coupon code’ button, and type in the code SMITTEN.  You’ll see the change in price reflected right away.
