Incidence
Published On: August 6, 2019

I mean I can’t say I wasn’t warned…pretty much everyone told me that once I gave in and tried it, I was going to fall hard for brioche.  And well…they were all right.  Incidence is my second brioche project, I love it more than any reasonable person should, and it’s 10% off on ravelry with the code TOLD YOU SO.

Now, someone is reading this and thinking ‘yup, it’s pretty, but I don’t know how to do brioche.’  To which I have to say yeah, neither did I.  You can go from ‘I’ve never knit brioche’ to ‘I have the skills I need to do that’ with about an afternoon of practice.  I linked out to a bunch of the helpful stuff I used when I was learning over here. Seriously…an hour of practice and you’ll be ready to try this.

And when you are ready…well…you’re in for a treat.  This is one of those patterns where the vast, vast majority of it (like 98% or so) is plain old ribbing.  But that teeny tiny other bit just makes the rest of it shine!

Plus, and I say this with a level of glee normally reserved for skirts with pockets, it’s reversible.

The hardest part about this pattern is going to be deciding which side you want to show most.  (The answer, of course, is to be super tidy when you weave your ends in and then just alternate…because there’s no way to pick between the two!)

Oh and don’t worry.  You don’t have to knit it with mohair fluff.  You can totally use most any fingering, sport, or dk weight yarn and get equally lovely (if not quite so fluffy) results.  The mohair is optional (though really…hard to resist).

The pattern is called Incidence, it’s up on ravelry now, and you can grab it for 10% off with the code TOLD YOU SO for the next few days!
