This? This is what delayed gratification looks like. For you see, I knit the original version of these mitts way back in 2016. And I loved them, but always felt like they needed a hat to match. But I’d given the original mitts away, and I didn’t have any more of the original yarn, so making a matching hat meant reknitting the mitts too. And well…that always felt like slightly too big a project given everything else going on.

But somehow, that all changed when I accidentally brought home a pile of unspeakably cheerful pink and orange fluff from a fiber festival earlier this year. All of a sudden, reknitting the mitts felt like an exciting project, not a chore. And knitting the hat was so much fun I found myself unable to stop after just one and sort of accidentally made two.

And now? Well now you can join me on this diverting little excursion and make a set of your own! I fully intend to wear these all winter. They just might be cheerful enough to keep my soul tethered to my body when the sun starts setting three hours before dinner time here in a few months.
