Wanna hear my not-so-secret-secret-plan? Because I’m thinking we should do kits…⁠

Two things are true:⁠
⁠
1) these are so absurdly cute that I know a lot of you long to make them!⁠
2) a big part of that cuteness comes from bits (like the grommets and the clasps) that are sometimes tricky to track down…⁠

And while I have complete faith in your ability to undertake a little scavenger hunt if you really really want to make something, I realize sometimes that just feels hard. Especially for something like this where you maybe don’t actually want 40 of the clasps and you maybe don’t want to try three different grommet kits to find the one that works best. You just want to Make The Thing.⁠

So I’m thinking we should do kits for these!⁠
⁠
Now, my inclination is to include the bits you’re not likely to have (like the grommets and the grommet setting tools, the clasps, the plastic canvas to go inside the paper and make it stiff, the embroidery floss in just the right colors for lines on the paper and, erm, the adorable little pouches I’m in the process of getting made, because oh am I so excited about them) and trust that you can find yarn on your own. Though I am open to maybe doing a very small run of ones with yarn if enough folks really really want that. ⁠

So tell me, if you’re a kit person, what makes you excited about a kit? ⁠

Actually, tell me what makes you not so excited too, because that’s also useful to know.⁠
⁠
And if you’re not generally a kit person (I confess I generally am not), is there anything that sometimes threatens your resolve (for me it’s tools I can continue to use after the project in the kit)?⁠

Preemptive answers to questions that I suspect will come up:⁠

– Yes, the pattern will be available by itself.⁠
– No, the pattern is not available now (I’m literally still making them).⁠
– My best guess is that a preorder will go up some time next month and the pattern come out and the kits ship a few weeks later.⁠
– I don’t have firm info on prices or dates right now and won’t for a couple of weeks (this is code for ‘please don’t ask, it will just stress me out, I’ll share it when I have it, but I’m not going to guess in the meantime’).
