Monthly Reminder
So this is what I posted over on IG this month:
Is it gross that we can’t say the word lest the Algo Overlords hide the post? Yup, super gross!
Are we going to let that stop us? Oh hell no. We’ll do this with coded language if that’s what we need to do. Because y’all are clever and know exactly what I’m talking about. And it’s important to make sure the information is out there, even if we have to talk around it.
Now…do me a favor and help me out in my ongoing quest to make sure every damn one of us knows what’s up and how we can help keep ourselves and our friends and family safe (or at least safer). Do that thing where you interact with the post some kinda way (like/share/save/leave a comment, whatever is easiest for you) so that the Nefarious Algo Overlords deign to show it to others (do I hate asking? oh god yes…does it actually work to accomplish the great big important goal? yup…is that important enough that I’m asking, even though it makes me feel all squirmy inside? clearly).
Because this is how things work now. So this is what we’re going to do!
And I hate that I have to do it that way, because using clear and correct language really matters. But, we’re all navigating a world where doing that means your post is less likely to be seen (and it might actually get you kicked off the platform altogether). And it’s important that this information be available. Important enough that if we need to talk around it to make that happen, that’s what we’re going to do.
As always, Aid Access is the best place to go. They’ll help no matter where you are, they’ll help even if you can’t afford it, and they’ll help now, before you need it, just in case. If you can, support their work. If you can’t support them financially, support them by following them and spreading the word about their work. Because they’ll help us keep each other safe.
