Preorder Plans
Published On: August 12, 2025

Did I intend to post this yesterday? Yup. Have I instead spent the last several days dealing with the sort of car trouble that leaves you stranded and involves tow trucks and taxis and favors from friends and the sort of logistics usually reserved for space flights or minor insurrections? Yup. A year from now, will it matter that I posted this today instead of yesterday? Nope. So we’re doing it now!

What’s in the kits:

  • Everything you need to make at least 10 strips of bacon: That’s 4 minis of Seven Sisters Arts gorgeous yarn (two in Meridian, two in Matrika), dyed in just the right bacon-y colors (“bacon-colored” being a surprisingly difficult shade of yarn to find in the wild, but Karen can work absolute magic with color and yarn), plenty of wire to give them the perfect shape, and a download code for the bacon pattern. (We’ll also have a no yarn option for folks who prefer that.)
  • Tiny Nonsense zip up pouch: These are the fantastic little zip up pouches I had so much fun designing. I love absolutely every single thing about them. No really, they were a project to design, but I had so much fun, and just everything about them (fancy zipper, wee ribbon loop, secret useful bits on the bottom, and oh, oh that lining) thrills me to bits.
  • My absolute favorite tiny scissors: A couple of you have asked about the gorgeous little scissors that have been showing up in my pictures for the last few months. And I’ve always said I was testing them out for an upcoming project, and now it’s finally time to share them! They’re perfect (tiny, sharp, sturdy, comfy to use, with truly excellent snip snip sounds).
  • Tiny secret gizmo I can’t tell you about yet: Am I being coy? Yup, I absolutely am. But I promise it’s nifty and will earn its place in your knitting bag!

Preorder bonus:

  • Advance copy of Fried: Anyone who preorders will get an advanced copy of Fried (the egg pattern that goes oh so very nicely with the bacon). I’ll magic it into your ravelry library the day after the preorder closes so you have something to work on while you wait for the bacon. (If you prefer payhip, I can get it to you there as well. But about 98% of folks seem to prefer ravelry, so the easiest thing to do is send it to everyone there and then help anyone who prefers payhip as needed.)

Schedule:

  • Preorders open for Patreon folks: Tomorrow, Wednesday, August 13 (you know, assuming the loaner car doesn’t do something exciting like strand me when I’m out of town tonight…but it would be very rude of the universe to do that twice in a row). I’ll make a post there with link when that goes live. (Anyone with any kind of membership, yes including the free one, will be able to see that. You can make that happen right here if you want.)
  • Preorders open for the general public: Thursday, August 14. I’ll make a post more generally (the blog, ravelry, instagram, mailing list, all the usual places) when that goes up.
  • Preorders close in a week, or when I run out, whichever comes first: I have limited quantities of both the yarn and the pouches! That means I am listing 175 kits with yarn, and about the same number without the yarn. We may be able to get more yarn (I emphasize may, because the yarn is all dyed by One Single Solitary Human Being and we are absolutely not going to ask anyone to do more work than are comfortable doing), in which case I will switch some of those without yarn kits over to with yarn, but no promises.
  • Kits will ship the first week in October: Standard ‘I can’t tell you an exact date’ thing applies. But the plan (a nice comfy plan with lots of wiggle room built in because otherwise I turn into a ball of stress) is the first week in October.

Prices:

  • With yarn: Kits with yarn are $125.00. That includes shipping to US addresses (including APO/FOP/DPO addresses). You’ll get an email with a tracking number when it goes in the mail.
  • Without yarn: Kits without yarn are $65.00. That includes shipping to US addresses (including APO/FOP/DPO addresses). You’ll get an email with a tracking number when it goes in the mail.
  • International folks: Postage to send these out of the country is astonishing. Like it costs me somewhere between $30 and $40 to ship them. On top of that, there are some places I’m literally not allowed to sell them (like the whole EU) because of GPSR rules. I’ll have an option for Canadian addresses, but I have to charge shipping to cover the extra postage (I’ve set it at $20, which covers most but not actually all of the difference in price between US and Canadian addresses). If you’re somewhere else (not in the EU, which I am literally not allowed to sell to), and really really really want one badly enough to cover the extra postage (which will likely be about $30), send me a message and we can make it happen. I hate that I can’t just make the shipping the same for everyone and send them to anyone who wants one! But I have no control over the postage rates or the rules for who can sell to the EU (cough, so pretty pretty please don’t yell at me for stuff I can’t control, cough).

Questions?

If there’s something I didn’t cover or that you’re still wondering about, send me a message and let me know. Otherwise look for a post tomorrow on patreon and Thursday here with a link to the page for the kits!
