I’m trying to decide if I should get us some icord machines to have as an optional add on for the next kit (which will be for string lights).

I haven’t shared much about this yet because it’s not quite ready. But the pattern involves a fair bit of icord. I’ll have options if you don’t want to do it, but some of the super cool light stuff needs it. You can always do it manually! But it’s faster with a machine. And once you have the machine, you tend to find other things to do with it!

So I reached out to the distributor for them to find out if I could get machines for the kits. And I can…but I have to order them pretty much now (like this week) in order to have them in time for the kits. So…how I have to figure out how many folks would want to add these to a kit. Because they’re expensive enough I’m not going to order more than I’m confident I can sell…like if 50 of you say ‘yes I absolutely want a machine’ I will order 40 of them on the theory that some folks will change their minds or have something come up or whatever, and I don’t want to have extras.

Couple pieces of information to help you answer:

• The machines would be an optional add on to the kit (meaning you could get the kit without the machine if you like that better). Also you’ll be able to pick colorful lights or natural lights, because I know this is an important issue for many folks.
• The machines would probably add about $45-$50 to the price of the kit (they’re currently selling for about $50 on amazon* and I sure as heck won’t be able to sell them for significantly less than the gigantic conglomerate run by the evil billionaire can.
• I don’t plan to offer them on their own outside of the kit (unless I end up with more than I need for the kit and need to find homes for the extras, but I’m currently planning to order very conservatively to avoid that).

So, with all that in mind, I’ve got a poll for us over on Patreon (anyone can see the post, it’s public). I’d love it if you’d pick whichever option is the closest fit (I know no poll perfectly covers every option, this is just a quick way to get some information so I’m not guessing totally in the dark). If you have comments/questions/thoughts, totally leave a comment with that.

And if you really, truly, for sure, absolutely know you want to do the kit with the machine, leave a comment there saying that as well and I’ll reach out to you and make sure I get one for you (don’t worry, I know a lot can change between now and a month from now when I’ll put these up, it won’t be a problem if something changes and it turns out you can’t do it, this is just me making a little list of folks who really, truly want it so I can be sure I get enough for them, I’ll put y’all on a little list and send you a notice ahead of time if we end up doing machines so you get first dibs).
