There is no such thing as a knitting emergency…

But boy on boy are there small but deeply frustrating problems from time to time. The good news is I’ve already solved this one!

Quick version up top for anyone in a hurry:

There was a manufacturing error with the first batch of cards, so I got them reprinted. They’ll be here next week, so you’ve got through Monday to get on the Notable Nonsense tier (or until it fills up, which may well happen first) if you want to get these in this month’s mail club shipment. Being on the Notable Nonsense tier is the only way to get them, they are not available anywhere else!

If you’re not a member at all right now, you can join here, and if you’re already a member at a different tier, you can find instructions for how to change your tier here.

Longer version for anyone wanting story time:

So, remember how the overarching theme of the last few months has been ‘cool, new projects come with cool, new problems’? Yeah, so one of those happened (it’s already solved, don’t fret).

After working carefully with the manufacturer to make sure the holes on the needle gauge part of the tool card were just the right size…the paint they put on them went and made the holes just a teeny tiny hair smaller than they should be, thus rendering the needle gauge part of this tragically inaccurate.

You may imagine for yourself the stream of profanity and vitriol that I uttered upon making this discovery (please do keep in mind that I have a fairly stellar vocabulary and that I was highly motivated).

However, as promised, I have already solved the problem. New cards are being made as we speak and are going to be overnight expressed to me next week.

This will actually end up being a good thing as it means I was able to order, um, quite a few more (in light of the overwhelmingly enthusiastic response to these), and I was able to make a few little tweaks to the design of the card (after having actually held/used/played with the tools). So the end result is that more people will get an even better version of the card…just at the cost of some frankly scandalous language and a slight delay.

It also means that you’ve got through the end of the day Monday to get on the mail club and get these as June’s shipment (Tuesday morning I’ll close the tier, pull addresses, and get them on envelopes so that as soon as the cards arrive, all I have to do is tuck them in and get them on the way). There is no other way to get these at the moment and won’t be for at least several months.*

Once again, if you’re not a member at all, you can join here, if you’re already a member at a different tier, there are instructions for how to change your tier here.

As of this moment, we’ve got 102 Notable Nonsense spots left, when they’re full, they’re full, that’s it. I’m meandering around telling Patreon and instagram and ravelry and the mailing list about this, which means I expect that number to go down over the course of the weekend. But I wanted to let you know, just in case you meant to come play but something else wandered by and distracted you.

Yay for fun new projects (even if they do occasionally come with small headaches), and yay for remembering that there really isn’t any such thing as a knitting emergency (even if it occasionally feels like it in the moment). I can’t wait to get these in your hands!

*Yeah, so, I know folks are super excited for these, and I am looking into finding a way to make them available outside the mail club. If (and it’s a big if, not a promise) I end up doing that, they won’t be just generally available individually (because I absolutely can not and will not have a store open all the time, the logistics of that are simply not sustainable for me). The most likely scenario is that they’ll be available as part of a set with other tools, or that they’ll be included in a larger kit, or that they’ll be available in a bundle of several cards. If (again, not a promise) I do that, they’ll only be available for a week or two (so that I can ship them all at once). And whatever package they’re part of will be substantially more expensive than a month of the mail club (because selling things less expensive than that simply doesn’t account for the time it takes me to process, pack, and ship them, which means I just can’t do it). So I’m looking into it, and I may be able to do something with them some time in the fall. But for now, the mail club is and will remain the only way to get them.
