Since I couldn’t invite everyone…
So yeah, sitting in the sunshine, doing a little project, and laughing with people who are every bit as horrified by everything that is happening as I am was exactly what I needed. It doesn’t make anything better, precisely. But it reminds me of why we rail so hard against all the horrible things. And that reminder is restorative in a way that sitting alone, on your couch, with posture that would shame a shrimp, doom scrolling on your phone for the third straight hour, simply isn’t.
If there’s a way for you to do some version of being in the same physical place as people you like who share your values, having fu, I cannot stress enough how much I recommend it. I know it’s hard! (Some day we will have a whole conversation about just how much work hosting actually is.) But there’s nothing else quite like it. Seriously, lower your standards (nope, your house doesn’t need to be spotless, nope, you don’t have to have the perfect food, nope, you don’t have to fret that someone will think you’re a dork for inviting them, even if you don’t know them that well yet) until you find the version of this you can do, and then do it. And then do it again because it will be easier the next time.
Because really, don’t you want to take this…

Over here…

And watch it do this…

And then open it up to reveal this?

Because I’d bet money you and at least a couple folks you know do indeed want to do exactly that!
Couple videos of the process are up over here if you want to watch (it’s a public post, anyone can see it, it’s just easier to host video over there)!
