Retirement Party
Published On: November 6, 2026

TL;DR for anyone in a hurry:

November means (many of) the retired patterns come out of hiding for a few weeks!

Anyone who hangs out with me here can use the code NOTHING QUITE LIKE AN OLD FRIEND to take 25% off any of the retired patterns on ravelry or payhip in November (and in case you missed it, anyone on Rampant Nonsense or Notable Nonsense gets all the retired slippers free over on this post).

More info for folks with questions:

People always have logistics questions about this, so let me try and answer them all at once:

  • Retired patterns will be available through the end of the month (and in reality, a day or two into December, because I won’t be turning them off until I’ve gotten all the multi tools in the mail, and turning them off takes a day or two).
  • It’s not every pattern (but it is a whole dang lot of them, well over 200 if you count the book patterns). Basically I make everything that I still feel good about available. That means most anything released or revisited from about 2017 onward is there, as are most of the books. But the very early patterns aren’t (unless they’ve been updated in the intervening years) because today me has much higher standards for what makes a good pattern than 2010 me did, and I won’t sell anything I don’t still feel good about!
  • Some of the patterns are in an earlier pattern format, some are in the current pattern format. Work that came out (or was updated) after I launched Tiny Nonsense in 2022 will be in the current pattern format (you can tell because those patterns have the title in big yellow letters on front page and generally cost $10 for individual patterns or $15 for sets). Work that came out before that under the Pantsville Press name will be in an earlier pattern format (you can tell because those patterns will have both the pattern title and a definition on the front page in gray and generally cost $7.50 for individual patterns).
  • Patterns are available on both ravelry and payhip. I think I managed to grab a list of them (I’ll put it below), but I am aaaaabsolutely too lazy to link all of them on both places. Consider it a scavenger hunt if you want to go check them out.

And someone always has a philosophical question about why I do this, so let me try and answer that too:

  • This is the compromise I’ve come up with to balance between ‘ack…too many old patterns to keep up with, I am overwhelmed, I shall hide them all away forever and just play with new stuff‘ (my actual strong preference) and ‘everything available all the time forever‘ (what some folks seem to want but which I am absolutely and completely unwilling and unable to do).
  • This way people who are just finding us (or who are just now realizing Just How Many Old Patterns There Are) can get what they want! But I don’t have to deal with the (no, seriously, really really really overwhelming) feeling of needing to have All Of It Perfectly Updated And Organized And Appropriately Presented (which absolutely will lead me to just say cool…that’s too hard, so I’ll just stop doing this all together).
  • Someone will always come along and say ‘but I, a human who is not you and has not done this thing, do not think I would find it overwhelming to manage a back catalog like that…therefore you, a human who has clearly and repeatedly explained that they do find it overwhelming, should not find it to be so either.’ Please try hard not to be that person, this really is what I need to do in order to have aaaaany bandwidth to create new stuff instead of just managing old stuff!

That discount code one more time for anyone who wants to go exploring:

  • NOTHING QUITE LIKE AN OLD FRIEND to take 25% off any of the RETIRED patterns on ravelry or payhip while they’re back. That works on the retired ones (not the Core Collection or the Rotating Collection).
  • Rampant Nonsense and Notable Nonsense folks (the ones who get patterns for free when they come out) can also go grab any of the retired slipper patterns for free. Details on that are over on this post!

The list…I think. Again, I am way way way too lazy to link these all on two different sites (there are well over 200 patterns if you count the book ones). So if you see a title that catches your eye, put it into the search bar on ravelry or payhip!
