Trump hurts people
Trump’s tariffs mean you probably can’t have one of these. Because I probably won’t make any more. Because my cost to make them doubled this week. They’re probably going to cost me about $4,000 more than I thought they would.
I’ve been working on these for months. Because I don’t do the generic, print on demand, slap a logo on it and call it good thing. If I make it, I want it to be special. So I reached out to the printer I loved so much when I was doing books, and we spent ages getting the fabric and the zipper and the lining and the tag and the ribbon and the color and all the other tiny things that go into a project like this just right. We spent ages making something I loved and felt really proud of.
Then back in December I wrote what felt like a really big check for my tiny little business.
And this week, because of the choices of one bad man, I found out they’re probably going to cost me $4,000 more than I thought they would.
And I’m lucky. I can afford it. It sucks. It hurts. But I can handle it. Just this once. But I sure can’t risk it happening again. So I probably won’t make more of these. Or any of the other awesome things I want to make. At least not any time soon.
Which means you probably can’t have one.
Trump’s tariffs hurt business like mine. They hurt people like me. And they hurt you too.
