Trump is a fascist and is directly defying the US Supreme Court.

A legal US resident was arrested, handed over to ICE, and, without being charged with or convicted of a crime, sent to a concentration camp in El Salvador. The administration admits this was the result of an administrative error. A series of courts, up to and including the US Supreme Court, have said that this was illegal and ordered the government to bring him back. Trump said no. Trump is cracking jokes about it with the president of El Salvador. Because Trump is a fascist, and this is how he thinks America should work.

I have no idea how to function in a country that calls itself a democracy but allows this to happen. If you voted for Trump, you are responsible for this. If you voted for Trump, you are a bad person.

But also, I promised I’d put this pattern out today. So I will. Because I said I would, and I do what I say. And because it’s my job, and I have to keep doing my job so I can survive and do my bit to to fight back against what’s happening.

And one of these days we’re going to talk about how jarring it is to realize that all the usual life stuff still happens in the midst of catastrophe and revolution. My country is shipping people to concentration camps, and I need to run to the grocery store, so I will call my senator on the drive. My country destroying social security, and I have to go to PT for my ankle, so that my ankle is strong enough for me to stand on at the next protest. My country is taking away my bodily autonomy, and I need to scoop the cat box, because I’m having friends over, because community is how we survive this.

So here we are. My president is a fascist. My country is failing. And I’m releasing a silly little knitting pattern. Because I said I would, and I don’t want to let anyone down. And because it’s my job, and I have to do my job to survive. And because finding moments to make beautiful things is part of how we make it through times like this.

But please, I know you’re busy, but find a moment today to do one little thing to resist this. Because dictatorships end when enough people fight back. And we need every last one of us to do our part.

  • You can find it on both ravelry and patreon. As a reminder, the mitts are only available as part of the set, they are not available individually.
  • If you already have the set, you don’t need to do anything! The updated file is already in your ravelry library. You should also have an email (from either ravelry or payhip, depending on where you bought it) with a link to download the updated file directly.
  • If you don’t already have the set and now you want it, we can make that happen!
    • Rampant Nonsense patrons go here and follow the instructions in that post to get the set for free. That will work at least through the end of June.
    • Anyone else can use the code KINDA for 25% off the set on either ravelry or payhip through the weekend.

We survive this together. The world is better with you in it. Find your people, find what you can do, and survive. Wait the bastards out. They won’t last.
