Come write letters!
Published On: April 17, 2025

Come write letters with me! No really, we’re all exhausted and scared and angry. We all want to do something. We’re all tired of leaving voicemails for our representatives. So let’s do something together!

Inspired by @theshabbycreekcottage‘s #projectmailstorm, I asked some local friends if they’d let us come write letters to our representatives at their businesses. And they said yes! So we’re doing it.

Please join me at @ontheround‘s gorgeous new studio in Thomaston, Maine on Tuesday April 22nd from 4-6pm (other locations and dates coming soon).

We’ll have letter writing supplies (including some sample wording in case you’re not sure what to say). We’ll hang out. We’ll doodle on some paper. We’ll tell these folks to do their jobs.

And if enough of us do it, it will matter.

Because the more noise we make, the harder we are to ignore. And not all of us can stand on the sidewalk with a protest sign. But I bet a whole damn bunch of us can spend an hour writing a note with new friends.

So come. Tell your friends to come. If you can’t come to this one, come to the next one (because there will be more).

And if you’re not in Maine, ask some of your favorite local businesses if they’d let you hang out for an afternoon and do the same thing. Yes, even if you don’t think you’re the kind of person to organize something like this (I sure as hell don’t feel like I’m qualified). Yes, even if you’re scared (I am!). Yes, even if you’re worried no one will come (I am…but I’m doing it anyway).

Doing little hard things is how we get stronger and braver so we can do bigger hard things. And times like these are going to require you to do big hard things. So start practicing.
