I made us something
Published On: June 5, 2026

Remember yesterday when I said I was waiting on the postman to bring our next treat? Yeah, so about that…want a tour?

I made us some fantastic little metal tool cards, and I love them more than any reasonable person should. No more than you think. Like a lot more.

Down one side you’ve got a needle gauge, down the other a ruler, and at the very bottom you’ve got a window that you can lay over your fabric to count your stitches and check your gauge (in inches/US needle sizes on the front, and cm/mm needle sizes on the back). Those bits are all actually fully functional and useful, the sort of thing a reasonable, responsible person could use regularly for reasonable, responsible things.

But then, then oh, oh there’s something else entirely going on in the middle. In the middle you have an assortment of little pop out tools that could, in case of some dire, textile-based, emergency be pressed into brief service.

Are they going to be anyone’s very most favorite darning needle or crochet hook, the one you reach for when you have hours of careful handwork to complete? Nooooooope. Not even a little bit. Do they do a fairly serviceable job of fixing a snag or catching a runaway stitch or wrangling a loose end in a pinch? Actually yeah, a surprisingly good job, all things considered.

Are they deeply, viscerally satisfying to wiggle out of their card in a way that feels almost scandalous to admit? A lady never tells…but you can find out if you want to. These are going to be the next Notable Nonsense mailing, so if you want to oh so gently coax one free (or wrench it out with a satisfying snap, who am I to judge), you can make that happen!

I’ll post lots of details about them and what’s going to be in the packages over the next week or two.

I know the big question will be ‘how do I get one?!’ so I’ll just preemptively say the only way to get them (at least for the next few months) is to join the Notable Nonsense tier before they ship.

You can watch a video with them here, and I’ll talk more about them (and show you what using the tools is like, and generally just do my best to play with them and let you watch) plus talk more about the mailing over the next week or two (so don’t worry if you still have questions, I can all but promise I’ll answer them in upcoming posts). But for now, I wanted to show them off and share the excitement!

Now for the important bit…when you get one, will you pop a needle out to try it immediately? Or save it for emergencies? I have to know…
