Fleckles*?
So right before I got all that wool yarn on cones at the thrift shop earlier this fall (no, like literally five minutes before, same afternoon), I found a wildly different yarn at the other thrift shop (what can I say, Maine has cool thrift shops). This is the opposite of that wool yarn in pretty much every imaginable way (slippery instead of grippy, rayon instead of wool, bright instead of subtle, slinky instead of rustic). None of those are usually things I like in a yarn, and yet the eye searing reddy/pinky/orangey-ness of it all left me absolutely helpless to resist (and the fifty cent price tag meant if I hated it, I wouldn’t feel too bad at all).

So this weekend it came out of the holding pen and joined forces with all my various fuzzy laceweight scraps and leapt into the mechanical embrace of the big circular knitting machine.
Here we’ll pause to point out what a good demonstration this is of how much difference a fuzzy fellow traveler can make. That’s the same base yarn throughout with just the fuzzy one changing every now and then. And the resulting fabric looks like it’s made with completely different yarn every time you swap out the fuzzy bits.
A few moderately tedious hours playing Little Robot in the Big Knitting Factory later, and I have what will (after some moderately complicated knitting surgery) become the stimmiest, fidgetiest, slinkiest, fluffiest, softest handwarmers ever in the history of fluffy technicolor glee.

They are very possibly the most autistic thing I have ever beheld in all my born days, and I love them dearly. I do not necessarily expect anyone else to like them even a little, and I deeeeeeeeeeeeeply do not mind if I am the only one absolutely tickled by them. But they bring me such unspeakable joy that I will absolutely inflict them upon you show them off to you like a child asking you to come see their new toy share them with you so you can at least satisfy your curiosity some time here shortly!
*Being the word my mouth insisted on saying outloud part way through the video I made about this yarn when I tried to talk about speckles and flecks of color. Which is perhaps a bit unexpected, but I kinda like it, so I’m keeping it.
