Book Yarn, Part II
Published On: October 21, 2012

Next up, Black Bunny Fibers.

Now I believe my position on the whole orange issue has been well established.  Namely ‘yes please’ and ‘let’s do that again.’  So I don’t think anyone will be surprised to see colors like this in the next book.

On the right we’ve got BFL Luxe Blend in Hedgehog’s Nose (love this title, I used to have a hedgehog and it’s spot on).  This is a 70% blue-faced leicester, 20% silk, 10% cashmere yarn, and it is tremendously lovely.  Now I’ll be honest, it’s a hair on the thin side for how I like to knit socks.  But remember, I’m a self-professed fat sock yarn addict and my opinions on proper sock yarn weight are not to be trusted.  Now I know there are plenty of folks out there who don’t share my fondness for the chubbier sock yarns, and this is right up their alley.  All you skinny sock folks should go turn it into socks at once.

On the left, we’ve got Devon in Orange Marmalade.  It’s a 70% merino, 20% baby alpaca, 10% silk mix, and I’ve never seen anything quite like it.  It has 8 tiny plies.  These are paired off into 4 groups of 2, and those groups of 2 then twirled around to make the finished yarn.  The result is round and plump and somehow just downright magic.  It comes in giant (600 yard) skeins and deserves to be made into something great.  I only hope I’ve done it justice!
