Caesious & Swans Island

I’m using the Curls preorder to introduce the patterns and yarns from the book. I’ll be featuring a new pair each day. Most of the yarn companies have donated lovely prizes, so come back every day to see what’s new!
Caesious in Washable Wool from Swans Island

1 swans island small I love this project.  The stitch pattern is marvelously simple (really the chart is tiny, you’ll have it memorized about the second time you work it).  All the fun comes from a few cleverly placed extra wraps of yarn around the needle.  You don’t have to do anything hard, and the result is an interesting and delightfully textured fabric.  It even looks good on both sides.  That’s pretty much everything you could ask for!

And the yarn is every bit as delightful as the project.  You know I adore Swans Island (visiting them has become something of a tradition whenever we go to Maine).  I petted this yarn when we were there in 2013, and knew it would be perfect for this project.  It’s a wonderfully round yarn and could be knit at a huge range of gauges.  I’d be perfectly happy using it at a tight gauge for socks, at something a bit looser for a sweater, or at the marvelously open gauge used here for a wrap.  And Swans Island’s special process makes the yarn both machine washable and luxuriously soft.  You really can’t go wrong!
