Mending

So for a good solid year after I broke my leg, I either had to wear this oh-so-stylish compression brace or my ankle was puffy enough that knit socks were tricky to wear.  Which is Something Of A Disappointment if, say, you have a giant basket of hand knit socks that you love dearly and wear constantly. But...just lately...the ankle has started behaving itself, and I'm back in my socks.  These are particularly stretchy and so were one of the first ones back in rotation.  I noticed they had a tiny little bit of a thin spot on one of [...]

You’re probably right

We need to talk about something... When I post a picture of a swatch or a project on instagram, the second most common comment I get (right after 'what's that yarn?') is some version of 'I could never do that, that's way too hard for me!'  And it sort of breaks my heart.  Because if that's what you're telling yourself, you're probably right...you probably can't. But I have some news!  You're not right because the thing itself is particularly hard.  You're right because if you go into it thinking 'I could never...' then you're not ever going to try, and [...]

And I really think the hardest part will be deciding which side you like best.  Because knitting reversible cables isn't any harder than knitting regular cables! No really, I promise.  [...]

We interrupt your regularly scheduled knitting

We interrupt your regularly scheduled knitting to point out that it's February.  It's likely cold and gray outside.  And you may be considering engaging in Elevated Levels Of Soft, Fluffy, Heart-Shaped Nonsense here in the next few days. If you're so inclined, Palpitation may be something you want to play with. The good news is they take something like an hour...hour and a half to knit.  The bad news is you will likely end up wanting to knit more than one. The pattern is 10% off this week with the code NONSENSE if you find yourself wanting to knit something unquestionably ridiculous [...]

Look I just have a weakness for sets ok…

Yeah yeah, in what will be a surprise to absolutely no one who knows me at all, there are about to be mitts to match the hat. Because I can, that's why. And because having sets of knitted things is about as close as I come to having anything you'd consider opinions about fashion. The only real question I have is 'is there going to be enough yarn (and enough patience) for a cowl after this?'  Because I think there's a tiny chance the answer to both is yes...
