Summer School, Party Tricks, Cleave
Published On: July 28, 2020

On Monday we talked a bit about socks with ridiculous party tricks, and for the rest of the week I’ll be showing off some of my personal favorites.

These are Cleave, they are about as close as I come to messing with the fundamental structure of socks, and they’re 25% off on ravelry with the code SUMMER SCHOOL through the end of the day, eastern time, Tuesday July 28.

Look, I told you I’m a sock traditionalist.  I don’t normally stray far from that path.  But this has just a tiny little tweak (instead of working a heel flap and gusset, you work increases down the side to create a gusset and keep working in the round all the way down the heel).  But this is reassuringly close to a top down sock with a heel flap, so I’ll allow it…just this once.

Erm…and, because I am such a staunch traditionalist, I might have just sort of accidentally included instructions to do it the normal way too. You know, in case you want the pretty cable but currently very much do not want to do anything even slightly new.  Because sometimes new feels hard and you are just not up for hard.
