Tethered

As always, I will not be attempting to convince you that you need these. I will not pretend that they serve any practical purpose. I will not suggest that they solve any of your problems. I will say only that you can sit down with your needles, a tiny ball of leftover yarn, and the pattern and stand up an hour or two later with a teeny tiny pair of mittens. What happens after that is up to you.

So technically, these are for sale on both ravelry and payhip (and you can use the code SMITTEN to take 15% off in either place through Friday). But really this is an absolutely shameless attempt to lure you over to patreon. Anyone with a paid membership gets this (and a bunch of other patterns) for free as part of their membership.

In case you’re new to it, patreon is a monthly subscription service that helps creative folks do what they do and lets the people who like that work support it. I’ve been using it for a little over a year, and I adore my patrons. They make it possible for me to keep doing this work, so I like to send them little treats (like these mittens)!

I have three levels on my patreon:

  • Sheer Nonsense ($3) for folks who like what I do (things like instagram posts or the discussions of mending techniques or the monthly donations to abortion services) and want to help make those possible. Oh and there are some patterns too! You can see the current list of downloads here.
  • Utter Nonsense ($6) for folks who like what I do and want the extra stuff patreon lets me create (like the book of paper stars or giant embroidery projects or bonus versions of patterns). You can see the current list of downloads here.
  • Rampant Nonsense ($12) for folks who like what I do and want the extras but also want all the patterns as they come out (you can totally put the patterns in your ravelry library, and there’s always a payhip option too). You can see the current list of downloads here.

You can cancel edit your membership at any point. You’ll still have anything you downloaded/put in your rav library while you were subscribed (they don’t go away just because your membership ended). And canceling won’t hurt my feelings (I probably won’t even know).

I know it’s a little bit different than what folks are used to, but it gives me the stability I need to do this job. I wouldn’t be designing without it. Even more than that, it’s made the internet feel safe and friendly again (seriously, when’s the last time you looked at the comments section and thought ‘oh wow, everyone is so nice, I love it here,’ but that’s what I think every time I see the comments there).

I hope you’ll join me there (and if you have any questions about how it works, let me know and I’ll see if I can help)!
