Right. You know how every year I make stars. And every year I say ‘oh, if only the paper came in prettier colors.’ But not this year. This year I FOUND the paper in prettier colors. Yes it’s ungodly expensive, yes you have to import it, in bulk, from overseas. But ya know…that’s something I’m good at.

So I was thinking what if we did kits…what if we did little kits with everything you needed to make either 6 or 12 of these stars (the paper, plus a bit extra for practice, stickers for assembling them, dots for hanging them, a folding tool, and a folder to keep your paper in with assembly guides on it to help you put them together, and an ebook with a bunch of brand new stars).

It would only be available as a preorder, so that I can get the right amount of stuff. And you’d have the kit by mid November. It would, alas, only be available to US shipping addresses because shipping overseas is too hard and too expensive.

If it looks like enough folks are interested, I’ll figure out detailed pricing and see what might be possible.

Fair warning, the paper is expensive! So a first pass guess at pricing is that a kit with everything for 6 stars would probably be around $100, everything for 12 stars probably around $150 (paper for 6 or 12 stars, plus a little extra for practice, stuff to put them together and hang them, a folding tool, and a little folder to keep your paper in with assembly guides on it to make putting them together easy, an ebook with instructions, and postage to get everything safely to you). Maybe a little less if we get enough folks, probably not any more than that.

I’m going to be doing an ebook of just the instructions either way (like this one we did last year)! But I’m considering doing a tiiiiiiny handful of kits, because I suspect there some of you out there who really want to make them but very much do not want to track down all the pieces. You want a craft project, not a shopping list!
