Should we do kits?
Should we do kits for this pattern? Because I get the impression that there are folks out there who want to make these, but do not want to go out and find all the pieces. And I get that! But also, I kinda already found them.
So if we were to do this, it would look something like this:
- three clear ornaments
- three big styrofoam balls
- three small styrofoam balls
- a handful of the wee doodads to turn the balls into hanging ornaments
- a couple colors of the lovely Seven Sisters Arts yarn that I used to embroider with, plenty to do at least all nine of these (I’m trusting you have white yarn somewhere in your stash, so this includes the yarn for the embroidery, not the knitting)
- and of course the pattern (and I suspect we’d probably find a way to maybe hang out online and embroider on them together at some point)
- I’d get them in the mail at the end of the month (so they’d arrive at the beginning of December), and the price would include shipping in the US
That would cost something like seventy dollars (so a little under eight dollars per ornament).
So here’s the thing where I talk business! It works for me to order the pieces and put together the packages if we have at least 25 folks who want them. It doesn’t make sense (just because of the amount of stuff I’d have to order and the time it takes to put things together) if we don’t have at least that many folks who want them.
So now you get to decide!
If that’s something you’re pretty darn sure you’d want (with that general schedule and cost and other parameters), leave a comment over here and let me know. Obviously I’m not going to hold you to it, no one will be mad at you if something happens and you change your mind or just forget. This is just to get a sense of whether we have enough people out there who immediately think ‘yes please where do I sign up!’
And if we have enough folks…well…these really are an awful lot of fun. I’d love to see a whole lot of them in the world! (And don’t worry, even if we don’t have enough folks to do kits, we’re still totally doing a pattern. Because see above about them being a whole damn lot of fun.)
