I do not want you as a follower. Or a customer. Or a friend. I think you are a bad person.

You voted for someone who will gleefully make the lives of women & people of color & queer people & disabled people worse.

You voted for someone who will make your groceries & your clothes & your cars & your housing more expensive.

You voted for someone who will make the air you breathe & the water you drink & the food you eat less safe.

You voted for someone who will make the schools your children attend worse & the healthcare your family needs harder to get.

You made a terrible choice. We are all, you included, going to be living with the consequences of your terrible choice for the rest of our lives.

And I can’t do anything about that! I’ll be too busy doing what I can to help where I can for as long as I can. I trust that you’ll come to see what a terrible choice you made in time.

But until then, one tiny thing I can do is tell you that you are not welcome here. The choices you made mean that I do not like or trust you. I think poorly of you. I don’t want you to read what I write or see what I make or enjoy my work.

If you’re here, the people you hurt are less safe. And you hurt all of us. So you are not welcome.

P.S. I know the vast majority of the folks reading this feel the same way I do! Because most of you are fantastic, and we’ve done a damn good job shooing that particular flavor of unpleasantness away already. But I’ve had a lot of new folks find me over the last week or so, and damn does it feel more important than ever to make it clear where I stand.
