We can fix it

We can fix it…or at least hide it!

Way back at the beginning of the hat, I worked a left leaning decrease where I should have worked a right-leaning decrease. And that means the wrong stitch is on top in this column of yellow stitches. Now, the ‘right’ way to fix it would have been to drop back and actually change the decrease. But I didn’t notice the error until after the hat was off the needles. So that…is not happening.

What I’m going to do instead is take a scrap of the yellow yarn (literally the bit leftover from when I cast on in this case) and duplicate stitch over three stitches (the stitch below the problem one in the column, the problem stitch, and the stitch above it). It won’t change the underlying structure of the fabric, but it will make it look right on the outside (especially after I block it again), and That Is Good Enough.

I’ll show you next time.

And yes, I’m working on the pattern (likely writing it up today and calling for testers tomorrow over on That other Place). It will probably be the first new pattern of the year and out before the winter lets up!
