So about those pouches…
Published On: October 22, 2025

Sooooo I have a plan…I’ve figured out a way for folks who really really want the pouches (but maybe don’t want a whole kit) to get them! This ties in nicely with my clever plan to knit as close to a tree full of ornaments as I possibly can between now and the holidays, and I think some of y’all are going to want to play along.

Short version:

Tomorrow (Thursday) morning I’ll share a listing for the pouches on post on Patreon. There will be two options.

Option 1: Stuff no yarn – this will have two pouches (one of each style), two pairs of my very very favorite scissors, and two of the nifty little gauge cards (that I need to tell folks about, but for now, we’ll let the picture do the talking). Keep both sets for you, or give one away, whatever works best for you!

Option 2: Stuff plus yarn – this will have all the same stuff (pouches, scissors, gauge cards) plus a set of six mini skeins of Ontheround’s Plus Single pluuuuus whatever ornament patterns I find myself knitting (as I play with that yarn, for the rest of the year, as part of this year’s quest to once again deck out my tree in all handmade goodies).

If that’s all the info you need, just wander over to Patreon tomorrow morning and I’ll have the listing all ready for you! It will be exclusive to folks on Patreon this week (anyone with any kind of membership, even the free one, will be able to get it), then I’ll share it more publicly next week.

If you want more details, there’s a darn good chance I’ve provided them below, read on for more!

Long version:

Remember how last year, for the first time in more than a decade, I put up a tree? And filled it with stuff I’d made? And made all the patterns I used on it available to folks on Patreon? Yeah, so, I want to do a version of that again! But this time, I want to spend the rest of the year knitting ornaments (because wow do I have a lot of ornament patterns and oh it’s fun to go back and visit with them), and I want to knit them out of a cohesive set of yarn (because I’m like that). So I reached out to Rachel at Ontheround and picked some colors!

And then I realized some of you might want to play along. And then I undertook a thorough survey of the shipping annex (aka actually went and counted how many pouches I had left) and realized we could put all of this together in a way that let folks who wanted pouches get pouches and folks who wanted to get yarn get yarn and folks who wanted to get patterns get patterns.

And then I realized it’s the end of October, so the time to do this is now!

The plan is to have two options:

Option 1: Stuff no yarn – this is the way to go if you just want the cute goodies, but not the yarn or the patterns.

Option 2: Stuff plus yarn – this is the way to go if you want the cute goodies, and the yarn, and the patterns.

Don’t worry, if you want some combination of stuff plus patterns (but not yarn), or you want just the patterns, all the Rampant Nonsense folks will get all the patterns I play with during this project as part of their membership!

I don’t have an exact list of which patterns I’m going to do, but I’m quite sure there will be at least six or seven, and very likely more depending on how easily distracted I am and how much fun I find myself having.

Schedule:

I know some folks will want these either for holiday gifts or for holiday knitting, so I’m going to do my very best to ship them quickly, which means shipping them in waves. I’ll have the first ones ready to go next week, with more going out over the next couple of weeks as the yarn is ready.

Thursday October 23 – preorder will open for folks here

Monday October 27 – preorder will open for everyone

Friday October 31 – first batch of just the pouches will go in the mail

First week in November – first batch with pouches and yarn will go in the mail

Middle of November – some time in the middle of November (exactly when depends on how quickly we blow through my stash of pouches and how much yarn Rachel is up to dyeing for us), we’ll shut this down and get the rest of the orders in the mail.

November & December – I’ll be knitting things, showing them off, and sending the patterns for whatever I’m knitting to anyone who got the yarn and also to Rampant Nonsense folks (you’ll get emails, you won’t have to do anything, don’t worry, that bit’s easy!).

As always, any dates have the ‘I am but one mortal human soul trapped in a fragile meat puppet in the midst of a series of intersecting personal, local, national, and global catastrophes…if the administration decides to shut down the postal service or use space lasers to blow up my house or if I get eaten by a hurricane, stuff might change, but by god I’ll try my best’ disclaimer on them.

Pricing:

Two options, two prices. And we’ll do a $10.00 discount for the first couple days while it’s just us before I open it up to the world at large.

Option 1: Stuff no yarn – $75.00 ($65.00 from Thursday-Sunday, then to the regular price when I make it public on Monday).

Option 2: Stuff plus yarn – $150.00 ($140.00 from Thursday-Sunday, then to the regular price when I make it public on Monday).

Both of those include shipping to a US address (apo/fpo/dpo addresses are fine). I’ll also have an option to ship to a couple of other countries for extra postage (usually around $20, which yes is expensive, but it literally costs me way more than that to ship packages overseas, so we gotta share the pain). If you don’t see your country, message me and I can figure out shipping for you and add it as an option (I know I can do Canada, Australia, and the UK, and I know for sure I’m literally not allowed to ship to the EU, and folks in other places can ask and I’ll do what I can). I can promise I’ll have everything in the mail by the middle of November, but if you’re overseas, I can’t promise anything about an arrival date.

Oh, oh this is the bit where I’m sliiiiiiiiightly nervous someone is going to yell at me (because yup, the bags are kinda expensive, because I made them super cool, and that means they were pricey to get made), but I’m going to trust that we’re all grownups and all quite capable of recognizing the difference between ‘that’s not in my budget’ versus ‘you are a terrible person, how dare you price your work in a way that covers your costs and pays for your time, I hate you forever and will say mean things to and about you.’ Because really, y’all have a demonstrated track record of being awesome so I probably don’t need to worry about that.

Availability:

I’ve got enough pouches to do around 200 packages, and Rachel is up for making lots of yarn for us. So in theory, we should have enough for folks who want them.

I will say that this is almost certainly the last time these specific pouches will be available. I may get more of some sort of pouches made in the future (tariff stuff makes this all a little chaotic right now so I can’t say for sure). But if I do, I’ll do different ones, and I won’t be getting these specific ones remade. So if you want these, this is your last chance to get them.

TL;DR:

I know that was a wall of text, but I also know someone always has questions and I don’t know how else to cover it all! The short version is:

If you are longing for the pouches, this is the way you get them. This is also the last time these specific pouches will be available. They’ll be exclusive to Patreon folks (and available at a discount) for the first few days, then available more generally (at the regular price) next week. If you want to knit along as I fill my tree, you can add on yarn and patterns (and if you just want the patterns, Rampant Nonsense folks will get them).

If you’ve got other questions, let me know, and I’ll do my best to answer them!

Bonus picture of the gauge cards (which again, I will absolutely talk about any minute now, but right this second I bet the picture will explain it all pretty darn well) for making it this far!
