Snip snip
Published On: October 24, 2025

Sooooo, it looks like the kits with the bags are going to sell out before they get off Patreon have sold out. But dammit, I still want to show off these awesome scissors (because I’m going to be doing more things with them in the future).

I don’t know how to properly convey good scissor vs bad scissor without putting them in your hands and giving you something to cut, but a video is the closest I can do! I love these because they have enough room for my fingers (curses on tiny finger holes), they make a satisfying snick snick noise when I use them, and they actually cut yarn well. Even when it’s not under tension.

I feel like so many so called embroidery scissors have a tendency to…let’s say bend yarn rather than cut it. Half the time it feels like you need to hold the thing you’re trying to cut under tension and even then you might sort of need to saw at it with the scissors rather than just snip it. But not with these, these actually cut. Well. Every time.

They’re a great size for a project bag. Just shy of 3.5 inches tip to handle, just shy of an inch of blade, and a hair over two inches at the widest part of the handle (which means they should be fine for planes according to current TSA guidelines, but that’s always subject to change and always at the discretion of whoever is checking your bags, and I don’t have any control over that). Or, if your brain thinks in comparisons to other objects rather than measurements, they just barely fit on a credit card.

As with any sort of tool, opinions on what makes something good are going to vary from person to person! But oh, oh these are the most comfortable, most reliable, most satisfying tiny scissor I have ever found. I wouldn’t sell them if I didn’t love them. And I think you’re going to love them too!

Next time we’ll talk about the gauge cards…

And in the meantime, I’ll see if there’s maybe something I can do for folks who want the yarn and scissors and gauge cards and patterns but weren’t quite fast enough to grab the bags.
