Hurtling through the void
Published On: December 3, 2025

(Very nearly all of) the gauge card sets have been sent on their way, hurtling through the mail system. They went out Monday, and they should start arriving in mailboxes near you any day now. A couple of super local folks may even have already gotten theirs. A few of the second round (the ones that weren’t supposed to hit the mail until the 10th) are going out in a day or two, but it actually looks like pretty much all of these should all be on the way well ahead of schedule!

These were little enough that mailing them in sturdy little envelopes (rather than boxes) made the most sense, so we didn’t end up having tracking on them. I know a couple of folks got emails purporting to have tracking info but then didn’t actually see a tracking number. That’s because shipping is weird and complicated, and I had some tick box somewhere in some byzantine set of sub-panels and menus incorrectly ticked…oops. But the post office is a marvel of modern engineering and will have them landing in mailboxes across the land in mere days!

I know we ran out of these before everyone who wanted them had a chance to get them, and I am working on getting more for us. It’s mostly the scissors that are the holdup at this point. I’ve got more on the way! But we are all constrained by the vicissitudes of the postal system, especially this time of year, and I don’t know exactly when they’ll get here. But once they do, I’ll let you know, and we’ll see what feels manageable.

I suspect what will happen is I’ll say ‘so, you can order them, and I’ll ship them promptly, but there’s this thing where it’s December and I can’t promise a specific arrival date.’ And then those of you who wish to will say ‘nifty, I, an adult who knows how calendars work, am comfortable with this showing up in early January instead of late December if that’s what needs to happen in order for me to get the thing I want’ and we’ll all live happily ever after. Because I figure none of you actually expect me to be able to control the postal system, and as long as I give you the best information I can about when stuff will ship, we’ll all actually be chill. But oh, I know this time of year sometimes gets hectic, and I want to be sure I don’t inadvertently smash anyone’s plans.

More when I know more, until then, I think I probably owe my local post office a plate of cookies…
