Look I love this hat. No like a lot. It combines two of my current favorite things, turned hems (which anyone can read all about here if they’re new for you) and embroidering on my knits (which you can play with on Snowday and Expound, both of which Rampant Nonsense and Notable Nonsense folks get on those posts I just linked to). And oh, when you put those two things together, you get magic.

Because this looks far more impressive than it should. No really, it’s just columns of straight stitches and (very slightly modified) duplicate stitches, lined up so they look so very much cooler than they have any right to. If you’ve ever embroidered on any other knits, you’ve almost certainly already done everything you’ll do here. And if you’ve never embroidered on your knits, this is a great first embroidery project. You can absolutely do this. I’ll walk you through all of it!

Better yet, once you have the hang of it, this stitch looks great on other things (like that boring store bought sweater or the super comfy sweater that you love but never wear because of a mystery stain you’d like to hide). Because you know you’re going to want to keep playing with it!
