Alrighty, it's time for a genera update post.  Because there's rather a lot going on, and it's all swimming around in my head, and I want it out of my head and in one place so I can point you guys at it when you ask.  So, in more or less chronological order: Firmament preorder is done (yay!), books have started arriving in mailboxes across the land.  If you missed it, you can ask your yarn shop to carry the paper one (I promise, they like that, I like that, it's good for everyone) or look on amazon, or you [...]

And with that, the preorder is officially done! The full eversion is live on ravelry now (check your ravelry library for the update).  The vast majority of the books are in the mail (the orders that came in during the last hour or so of the preorder remain, but I'll take care of them today and they'll be in tomorrow's mail).  If you didn't have a chance to grab yours, yarn shops will start to carry it in the next few days, and some time next week or so amazon will have it as well. So, this is what the garage looked like Saturday morning. I figured no one would mind if I got the first round out a little ahead of time, and I had a better chance of staying on speaking terms with the postman if I didn't wait till Tuesday and do them all at once.  More will go out today, and more still on Tuesday. And by problem, I mean I'm possessed by an irresistible urge to knit these when I should be doing responsible things like dishes or laundry or grocery shopping or sleeping. I knit thirteen of the blasted things... Blocked them... Stuffed them... Then immediately cast on more (I was nervous waiting for the preorder to open, it seemed reasonable at the time). But I'm pretty sure I'm through the worst of the compulsion now.  The pattern is headed out to testers this afternoon.  I'm taking pictures for them next week.  And the pattern should be out in early September.  That way [...]

One of these days I'll tell you the story of the horrible yarn shop I visited when I was a brand new knitter.  The one where the owner made it very clear that real knitters only knit sweaters (and only out of very thin, very expensive wool at that).
