A or B?
All that pesky perseverance paid off, I made it through the ribbing, and I'm on to the pretty bits. And I've had a bit of a lovely surprise. The inside of this is turning out to be super interesting in it's own right. I need to get a few more repeats done before I'll have a good sense of it, but it's very promising so far! The yarn is Tosh Merino Light in Calligraphy, and yes it is a single (and it's behaving quite well so far, which is always a bit iffy with singles). Loving it so far!
Persevere
So I have a bit of a conflict. First, I love nice deep cuffed brims on hats...four full inches minimum (to give you two inches of cuffed over fabric when it's folded). Second, I get distracted about four rows into ribbing. That gets us to here. Which is about 3 inches of ribbing. So I'm both bored out of my mind, and absolutely sure it needs at least another full inch to be as awesome as it can be. Send help.
Time out
The rainbow sparkle pony hat is in time out. There's every chance I'm just not the rainbow sparkle pony type. I'll pause while you all collect yourselves and get over your shock. Meanwhile, something in rather more me colors seems to have found its way onto my needles. Funny how that happens!
Second try
This yarn is fighting me. I'd turned it into a cowl once before, but didn't like where it was going so ripped it all back. Now I'm thinking hat, and I keep having grand plans, and it keeps wanting to just hang out and do it's own thing. Someone tell me that I can just make a very very very boring hat (like 1 by 3 ribbing and that's it) and let the yarn do what it wants to do. That's allowed, right? And also done!
It's been a productive couple of days. The mitts are done too! Don't worry, they'll uncurl when they hit the water. The cowl did (and it has longer stretches of stockinette), because the yarn is clearly magic! And again, in need of some end management and a good blocking. But also done and rather grand!

Oh hey look, slippers! And yes, they need their proper photo shoot (and, um to be blocked...and to have their ends woven in). But they are totally in the done pile!

Timely
Sometimes? Sometimes you have good timing. On Saturday, we grabbed the last of the herbs from the yard. Normally we do it earlier, but this year we kept putting it off. We spent an hour or two stripping herbs, peeling garlic, and putting the food processor to work. And later that very afternoon, we got the first snow of the season. I'm calling that just about the best timing ever. Remiss
I've apparently been shockingly remiss. I haven't shown you anything of the second slipper (even though it's been cruising right along). Let's see if we can fix that, shall we? I think by now we all know they start back here. Then they sneak in a few heel stitches and look something like this And once the heel stitches are all in place, they cruise along like this for a while. Until it's time for some quick decreases.
