Stick it in Your Ear
And no, I'm not being rude! 'Stick a book in your ear' is the motto of the delightful CraftLit podcast (and the sister production, Just the Books, which leaves out all the crafty bits...but I figure you guys likely don't mind the odd bit of crafty talk here and there). Craftlit is the brain child of Heather Ordover, mastermind behind the delightful What Would Madame Defarge Knit? series. I've been listening to the show for more or less forever, and I had the pleasure of working with Heather on both of the first two Defarge books. This past week, Heather [...]
I just realized I've been a terribly negligent blogger. I've got three little things I should have told you about. Bad blogger, no cookies for you. The first is a little history of my knitting over on Alana's podcast, Never Not Knitting. You can all go hear just how bad a start I got off to when I first learned to knit! The second is an inverview with the lovely Stacey of Fresh Stitches. We chat about all sorts of things, and you can see what my office looks like if you've been itching to know. And finally, the lovely [...]
Aiming for once a month on these, at least until they stop being amusing. Part of the stacks series, and as always click for the bigger version. Books show are What is Cultural History, A History of Our Time (mine is an older version, the link is to the most recent one), and In Small Things Forgotten. And, if you're in the mood for a podcast, you can head over to The Yarn Thing Podcast and listen to Marly and I chat. I've got a wee package of goodies to send off to whoever wins the drawing we talk about, [...]
Did you guys want to hear me natter on at length about Book the Second? I'll warn you, I talk fast. But if you're not put off by the speed of my prattle, there's a wee interview over on this week's Knit Pick's podcast. And, in totally unrelated news, I seem to have beaten InDesign into submission. I feel like I'm actually making progress. Of course there's still plenty to learn, but at least I feel like I'm getting the hang of it instead of simply flailing and swearing. There's hope for me yet.
You guys know I've long been a fan of Jaala and her marvelous publication, Knitcircus. I had the pleasure of releasing a sock pattern with her many moons ago, and we've chatted back and forth ever since. When she asked about doing an interview about the upcoming book, I was more than happy to oblige. If you'd like to take a look, you can download it on their site!
Less Than Prolific
I had all sorts of clever plans to avoid the dreaded blog silence over the holidays. And I mostly made it...there totally were posts. Just not as many (and not as knitting-rich) as I would like. It's mostly because I've been doing stuff other than knitting over the last few days. It's surprisingly hard to have knitting to show you if I don't actually knit. Not impossible...just hard. I'll offer two little consolation prizes. First, there's a wee little interview with me on Robin's site. Second, if you come back on January first, I'll let you know how you can [...]
Wanna Share the Pain?
You know how when you hear a recording of yourself it doesn't sound at all like you sound in your head? And I don't know about you, but I never like it. In my head, I'm much more clever/polished/together. When committed to tape, I become alarmingly squeaky. Turns out I talk kinda fast too. Oh well. If you wanted to revel in my squeaky shame, you could head over to Knit Picks and listen to their most recent podcast. I natter on at length. Don't worry though, if you don't, I'll never know. In fact, that might be for the [...]
