Last Call, Knitter’s Curiosity Cabinet Books Retiring Soon
Oh man, this is a bit tough, but it has to be done. All three of the Knitter's Curiosity Cabinet books are almost gone. I have just a tiny handful of each left. Once those are gone, they're gone. I won't be printing more. You may still be able to find them on amazon for a little while (looks like they a few copies of each at the moment). And of course you may well be able to find used copies out in the world. But I won't have any more to send out to shops or individuals. And of [...]
Has it really been that long?
I got a lovely message a few weeks ago from someone who told me she'd found a book that totally reminded her of me and my patterns, and she really really wanted to tell me about it. At least she did, right up until she realized it was actually my book (it was the first Knitter's Curiosity Cabinet book). Now this is awesome and hilarious (and she said she was totally fine with me talking about it). But it also served as a good reminder that the first Knitter's Curiosity Cabinet book came out a long time ago (summer of [...]
All Official Like
Lookie what I got in the mail: That's my lovely spiffy notice from the Copyright Office saying that Knitter's Curiosity Cabinet is all registered and official. I find it amuses me to no end (though admittedly, I am easily amused). I'm still tickled that I seem to have managed to create a real book (however that's defined) while hiding in my office wearing mostly pajamas and supervised by no one save the kittens. I've even tricked the copyright folks into believing it!
Just a Hint of Crazy
Knots on Saturday was so much fun. I'll confess I was nervous. I was actually fairly convinced that either no one would come or that people would come and would tell me my books suck. Or maybe someone would pick up a sock, turn it inside out, unweave the end, and start unraveling it. Or perhaps someone would bring some sort of specially trained small child, one covered in grape jelly and armed with magic markers, and encourage it to roll around on the knitting. Really. This is the stuff I found myself worrying about the night before. This isn't [...]
Wanna Come Say Hi?
Sooooo, wanna visit? I'm having a little book party/trunk show for The Knitter's Curiosity Cabinet this weekend! I'll be at Knots (Knitting on the Square) in Chardon this Saturday from noon till 5pm. The store will have books (and I've even worked out a way to get you the e version if you buy the paper version in the store that day), I'll bring samples from the book, and there will be lots of chatting and knitting. I'd love it if you would come say hi!
A Pack of Filthy Lies
I had the best of intentions. I have about two thirds of a hat...two thirds of what I am increasingly sure will be a cute hat. I have the firm desire to show you this partial hat. But you see, I also have three nefarious kitten overlords, a tendency to fill the bathroom sink to block swatches, and poor judgement as to how well the kittens will behave in the presence of a sink full of water. Hi-jinx ensued. The short version is that I now have a very damp partial hat that is in no way photo ready. I [...]
You guys know I've long been a fan of Jaala and her marvelous publication, Knitcircus. I had the pleasure of releasing a sock pattern with her many moons ago, and we've chatted back and forth ever since. When she asked about doing an interview about the upcoming book, I was more than happy to oblige. If you'd like to take a look, you can download it on their site!
