Propitiate
They're done! Two legs, two heels, two toes. All finished, and I even got them on The Boy and him outside before the sun went down. See? More about them and how you too can knit them for your very own feet can be found right here.
Embonpoint Done
The next step on the path to Violently Domestic's world domination has been taken. The pattern for Embonpoint is finished, tested, and available for sale! These socks are intended to be worked on slightly thicker yarn (they were designed specifically for Schaefer Yarn Company's marvelous new yarn Nichole yarn) and so knit up quickly. The pattern includes three different ways to do the cuff, just in case you feel like making a modified version. The gusset is a little different than what you find on most top-down socks, but I promise it's not hard. Enjoy!
Double Dipped
It seems Dippers is getting a bit of attention. A Socks That Rock group on Ravelry is considering using it for their next knit along. I'm thrilled! The idea of seeing it knit up in so many of the lovely Blue Moon colorways is rather staggering. Just in case it is selected, I went back over the pattern and make sure it was up to snuff. It was one of my earlier attempts, and I wanted to be sure it was ok. There were a few small typos (nothing that would have kept the earlier version from being used, just [...]
Just How Much do You Like it?
So, the Pedigreed socks are a bit of a challenge. They will be mirror images of each other and feature four different cable patterns and a wrap around rib. They're fun to knit, but they are not an entirely simple undertaking. I actually rather like my socks to be challenging, but I've learned something. The socks that are tricky to knit are also, not surprisingly, tricky to write up. The pattern for these would be by far my most complicated yet. It would need 8 charts, 6 of them full-page affairs. The written text would take several pages. The whole [...]
Ta Da!
All done...knit in six days. My hands will likely never be the same. Much of the credit goes to the yarn and all its thick squishy goodness. It's Nichole by Schaefer, and I will be using it again. Now for the shameless photo bragging. Take them home. Make them yourself.
Thank You
Just under a week ago I wrote about my decision to start charging for some of my patterns. I went on at some length, likely too much. I have a tendency to over explain and perhaps even to justify. I do it when I'm unsure of myself. Well it seems I didn't need to be. The response has been tremendously positive. Several people have written to me saying they support my decision. Lots of people have bought my patterns. This has all been marvelously encouraging and I appreciate it more than I can say. There will be more patterns. There [...]
Ensnared
The newest socks, Ensnared, are done and available for sale. I think I'm in love!
Filthy Lucre
Yes, I've decided to start trying to sell some of my patterns. You knew it was coming. Even the underpants gnomes are in it for the bucks. I've given this a lot of thought over the last several days and I've reached a few conclusions. I am not hoping to turn socks/ pattern writing/ knitting into a job or even into a substantial source of income. There are a few people out there who have managed to do that, but I don't think I have the luck, the skill, or - and probably most importantly - the drive to do [...]
Dippers
I am, for once in my life (and much to the surprise of anyone who has met me), done ahead of schedule. Yes, that's right, the Dippers socks are done being knit, done being photographed, and the pattern done being written. You may find the pattern here. You may also shower me with adulation, expensive presents, and, barring either of those, pictures of your completed socks. One more picture, mostly because I'm smug and self satisfied. Possibly even smugly self satisfied.
