As promised, more details on the new patreon tiers!

TL;DR version right up top:

I’m streamlining my patreon tiers, but you don’t need to change anything if you don’t want to! If you do nothing, you’ll keep (or lower) your current prices and automatically get the stuff that comes with the new version of your tier. But just in case you’ve been thinking of switching, if you switch to the Rampant Nonsense tier before the price goes up, you’ll keep the current price (but get the extra patterns that come with the new version of the tier) for as long as you stay on that tier!

I’m going to start the new tiers on January 28. If you want to adjust your tier in the meantime, you can find instructions on how to do that right here.

Longer version for folks who want the details:

I’ve been wanting to to rearrange my patreon tiers for a little while now. I set the current options up when I started patreon back in 2022, and the distinction between Sheer and Utter Nonsense has gotten a little bit blurry over the years. Plus I’ve started making things other than patterns (like the gauge cards and pouches), and I want a way to put the occasional package in the mail. The new year seems like the perfect time to make the switch, so here’s the plan!

• There will be three tiers:
  • Utter Nonsense at $5 for folks who like what I do (like the Monthly Reminder posts), want to help me keep doing it, and want to get the odd extra bit of nonsense (like the nifty little guide to turned hems that just came out or the occasional free pattern) every now and then.
  • Rampant Nonsense at $15 for folks who want all the new patterns (or other digital projects like the star books or flower book) as they come out plus all the other patterns in the current Rotating Collections.
  • Notable Nonsense at $25 for folks who want the patterns plus want something to show up in their mailbox from time to time.
• If you stay on your current tier, you’ll keep (or lower) your current price and get the new benefits.
  • If you’re currently on the Rampant Nonsense tier and you don’t do anything, your price will stay the same ($12 instead of $15 on the new plan), and you’ll get the extra patterns that go out to Rampant Nonsense folks going forward.
  • If you’re currently on the Utter Nonsense tier and you don’t do anything, your price will go down ($5 on the new plan instead of $6), and you’ll get everything that goes out to Utter Nonsense folks going forward. You can totally, totally change to the Sheer Nonsense tier before it goes away if you want! These two tiers are basically merging, and you were here before that happened, so it’s totally cool to switch to the lower priced one before it goes away.
  • If you’re currently on the Sheer Nonsense tier and you don’t do anything, your price will stay the same ($3 instead of $5 on the new plan), and you’ll get everything that goes out to the Utter Nonsense folks going forward.
• If you’ve been thinking of switching to the Rampant Nonsense tier and you do it before the price changes, you’ll keep the current price as long as you’re subscribed. This tier is going to start getting more patterns (all the new ones plus all the related ones in the current Rotating Collections), so the price is going up ($15 instead of $12). But if you’re on the tier before it changes, you’ll keep the current price but get the extra patterns.
• Notable Nonsense will only open occasionally! I’m not promising to send something every month (because that’s a short road to burnout and I know better). But on months when I do want to send something, I’ll make a post at the beginning of the month with an announcement about that month’s package and open the tier for one week (or until it’s full because I’m keeping it small). At the end of the week, I’ll close the tier, grab everyone’s addresses, send out a reminder for anyone who wants to change their tier back, and send out that month’s packages.

I think that covers pretty much all the questions anyone will have. Again, I emphasize that if you do nothing, you’ll keep (or lower) your current prices and automatically get the stuff that comes with the new version of current your tier. So you can literally just ignore this and you’ll be fine!

But if you want to switch to the Ramant Nonsense tier before the changes happen, you’ll keep the current price and get the the new patterns as they come out (that’s Snowday at the moment) plus the related patterns from the Rotating Collections (that’s Expound and Delineated right now, they’ll be going out at the beginning of February once I have the new stuff up and running) going forward.

The new tiers start on January 28, so you’ve got until then to change if you want to. You can find instructions on how to do that right here.

And I know someone wants to know, so the first Notable Nonsense mailing will be the gauge cards (because yes, I absolutely heard the folks that said they still really want to get them, and this is the way we make that happen). I’ll do a post about that shortly, but I wanted to get the more general information about the changes first.
