Book Yarn, Part VI

Today I'm showing off Three Irish Girls' lovely Kells Sport in the color Brennan.  I've not worked with this specific base before, but I have used (and very much enjoyed) their Adorn Sock in my Calcareous socks. I first found Three Irish Girls' yarns at Sock Summit.  Their combination of [...]

Utterly Without Shame

So I've gone and done it.  Once before I succumbed to the biggest knitting blog cliche out there and showed you my cat.  Apparently doing it once broke some sort of internal restraint, because here I am doing it again. It seems all my kitten-based indiscretions are related to spinning.  [...]

Funambulist

Funambulist \fyu-ˈnam-byə-list\ noun - One who performs on a tightrope (No really, it's a real word...not even some 1970s made up word...an actual, real live, been around for a long time word.) Just a tiny sneak peek today.  These socks are for the From Robin's Nest Four Seasons Sock and [...]

Book Yarn, Part V

Today we've got an appearance by another old favorite, Hand Maiden.  The light gray yarn on top is Bess, a merino / cashmere blend that I've not worked with before.  The darker gray yarn on the bottom is Casbah, a merino / cashmere /nylon blend I've loved for a long [...]

Practice Makes…

Practice makes...well, it hasn't made perfect quite yet, but it is getting better.  I can now consistently spin for at least half an hour without feeling the need to swear profusely.  It's looking prettier too.  Maybe there's hope yet.

Book Yarn, Part IV

I've never quite managed be one of those people who are always up on the newest or coolest things.  Perhaps I'm not attentive enough or I don't try hard enough or maybe I just don't care.  I've come to terms with that, and I don't even think it's a bad [...]

Book Yarn, Part III

So the last two book yarns were returns of old favorites.  That's always wonderful, and I am excited to work with them again.  That said, there's something marvelous in finding new favorites too.  (If you were a brownie in the 80s that godawful Make New Friends song might be running [...]

Giveaways and Patterns and Goodies Oh My!

Anemochory are out! These were made with the lovely Hedonist Sock from SlackFord Studio, and you've been watching me work on them for the last few weeks.  They're smooshy and warm and indulgent and just the sort of thing I love to put my feet in...when it's not hot.  I'm [...]

Book Yarn, Part II

Lovely as the Schaefer yarn is, 2 skeins do not a book make.  Don't worry though, there is rather a lot more.  The second yarn to arrive was Blue Moon Fiber Arts' Mediumweight in the color In the Navy. As with the Schaefer, this is not the first time I've [...]
