Bubble bubble
So...it's fine to spend some time in your yard trying to take a Halloween vibe photo of some little leaf buddies. That's totally cool.⠀ And it's lovely to meet folks from the neighborhood. Totally great to get to know everyone.⠀ ⠀ But it's a Tiny Bit Awkward to meet folks from the neighborhood while you're standing in the yard taking photos of tiny wooden dolls, dressed in lovely knit capes, posed around a bubbling cauldron. ⠀ ⠀ The temptation is to explain.⠀That will make you sound mad. ⠀Much better to just maintain cheerful eye contact and make polite chit chat [...]
Undergrowth
So that mushroom thing is happening. Actually, it might be fairer to say it has happened. Quite a lot really. Possibly more than might be strictly necessary. Though really, who am I to dictate your mushroom requirements... You could be running your own personal mushroom farm. It seems to be an easier thing to stumble into than you might expect.
Peached
Ok, enough of you asked, so I went ahead and did it. Peached is here, it's 10% off with the code MINT for the first few days it's out, and you can totally knit a whole bushel full and distribute them as needed to share your feelings. If you've been following along for the last few weeks, you know I knit this because reading the news felt overwhelming. And these days, when I feel that way, I tend to pick up my needles. This time, I found myself knitting a peach. Actually, quite a few peaches. I shared them here [...]
Things about which I am not sorry
This is fine. This is a totally valid thing for an adult to spend their life doing. This fills me with glee (and from what I hear, it does the same for quite a number of you too), and hurts absolutely no one. Rock on with your teeny tiny knits, bring joy to yourself and others, and never ever apologize!
Peachy
Alrighty, so the Im(peach)ment Peach is totally happening. I have whirled through the pattern in record time. It's off with testers right now (so we can make sure that me wanting to get this out fast does not mean you swear at the pattern a lot...swearing at the news is fine, swearing at the pattern is distasteful). I need to knit one or two more so I can take cute pictures (tell me baking a pie to use as a prop is overkill), but with luck it will be out late next week. I'm totally going to donate some of [...]
Sprout
I can't take a walk through the yard without finding some little...friends. Things that have popped up in the night. Some of them vanish in a day or two, some stick around for a surprisingly long time. I've heard rumors some of them are quite tasty, but I do not trust my plant identification skills enough to risk it. I'll stick to knitted versions instead. Fewer risks. Much higher in fiber. Yarns are by the always amazing Seven Sisters Arts (never made a color I don't adore and I don't think they ever will). And yes, it's safe to guess [...]
Whirling
Whirling is out and it's 10% off with the code SWIRL. This is what happens when you have the house to yourself for a week and, instead of catching up on your sleep, finally getting all those pesky home improvement projects finished, or actually going out and socializing with friends, you start the week off by going to a yarn store. Then, at the yarn store, you find two lovely balls of fat, squishy yarn...yarn that won't stop talking to you about what a delightful little hat it would make. So you fiddle around with a quick swatch, just to [...]
Let’s do the thing…
The blocking thing has a secret extra bonus. You can use the time the peach takes to dry to knit the leaf (or maybe it needs two leaves?) to go on the top. And enough folks have asked that maybe I'll go ahead and do an impromptu Impeachment Peach pattern. I sort of thought only I would find this amusing, but it seems quite a few of you share my sentiments (and possibly even my defective sense of humor). Let me know if that's the sort of thing that would float your boat. And maybe let me know if there's [...]
If I could do it for you, I would…
I'm going to sound like a broken record, but I want you to block your knits. Even for tiny things. ESPECIALLY for tiny things. Now, someone's going to say 'but I don't know hooooooooow.' Which, ok. Blocking little things can sometimes take a bit of extra ingenuity. But that's why I spend so much time talking about it on here and then tell you exactly how to do it in the patterns. So for example, in the Nestled pattern that came out earlier this month, it says "Weave in your ends. Get your leaf soaking wet. Squeeze out the extra [...]
