Mood
I mean...sometimes you simply must stop what you're doing, raid your stash for the perfect yarn, and knit a peach. A tiny, round, perfect peach. I shall call her Nancy, and I assume she'll save the world.
Nestled
Nestled is out, and for the next few days, it's 10% off with the code SNUGGLED. Now look, I know this isn't for everyone. Some of you are looking at this and thinking huh, well, that sure is...unusual. And if that's you, I get it. You should totally wander off and find the knitting you love and do that instead. But...I've heard a rumor that there are quite a few of you who are as hopelessly smitten with these as I am. I'm hearing about plans to make one for everybody in the family ornament swap or one for everyone in [...]
Fall
It's cool enough to reach for a sweater, and around here, that means this ancient, lovely thing. It also means patching up the latest round of holes (seriously, the fabric is thinner than a tshirt, it gets tiny holes if you so much as look at it). Luckily, that's something I rather enjoy. If you peruse the embroidery tag on here, you'll see many of the previous mends. (This is the bit where I preemptively mention that I can't show you the whole thing at once because the mends are all over and there is no way to take a [...]
Simple
Yesterday I found myself in my local graveyard, sitting on the ground by a mossy tree stump, carefully wrapping tiny wooden dolls in wooly capes and tucking them inside knitted leaves so I could take pretty pictures of them. And, because brains are tremendous storehouses of every stressful thing that's ever happened to you, I found myself thinking of a moment at the beginning of eighth grade. My english teacher (hi Mrs. Bottorff!) called me aside after class and told me that one of my other teachers had warned her that I was simple (her word, not mine) and would [...]
And now for something a bit lighter
I could tell you a story. I could tell you about tiny capes and perfectly shaped hoods and tying tiny bows. But I'm not going to. I'm just going to show you these and count on you to imagine it all for yourself. Because I'm pretty sure you can imagine exactly how adorable these are and how irresistible and how much you just want to cradle them in your hands and make frankly ridiculous cooing noises. You don't need me to tell you how it's done. What I will tell you is that the pattern is coming soon (later this [...]
Timelines, Tariffs, and Changing Truths (or why there likely won’t be a book next year)
I've written and published at least one book a year since 2012. I love books. I probably won't do one next year. I want to tell you why. To do that, I have to talk a little about how books are made, how they're priced, and, oddly enough, tariffs. I never expected to be thinking about tariffs and trade wars when I started writing knitting patterns, but here we are. Let's start with timelines. Books take me about a year to create. I started working on this fall's book in December 2018. I have my team and my process in [...]
You didn’t think I left the tops open by accident did you
So those leaves? The rainbow mountain of ridiculous leaves? Yeah. They need something to go in them don't you think? Something as absurdly cute and ridiculous as they are? It seems only reasonable. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. [pextestim pex_attr_set="looking-for-this-pattern" pex_attr_autoplay="false"][/pextestim]
I mean at least it’s seasonally appropriate, right?
Once upon a time there was a knitter with a short attention span. A short attention span and a fondness for cute things. If you showed her a cute tiny thing...a thing she could knit in one sitting, she'd be delighted. She'd knit it again and again and again. Even if you kind of wished she wouldn't.
Abeyance (plus giveaway)
Abeyance is out, it's 10% with the code LOOPY, and I've got yarn to give away. Now, I feel like I should offer you some sort of marvelous story here. Preferably the kind with disaster narrowly averted and quick-witted banter and possibly some sort of riveting chase scene. But that's not what happened. What happened is I woke up one morning with an absolutely burning desire for slippers with a little loop on the back. No really. That's it. I just decided that would be the cutest thing in the whole wide world. Once I realized that, the only reasonable [...]
