Not-so-secret
Wanna hear my not-so-secret-secret-plan? Because I'm thinking we should do kits... Two things are true: 1) these are so absurdly cute that I know a lot of you long to make them! 2) a big part of that cuteness comes from bits (like the grommets and the clasps) that are sometimes tricky to track down... And while I have complete faith in your ability to undertake a little scavenger hunt if you really really want to make something, I realize sometimes that just feels hard. Especially for something like this where you maybe don't actually want 40 [...]
Not quick
Embroidering these is...slow. And part of me wants to chirp at you and to pretend there's a simple hack to make it quick and easy. But...there's not. It's hundreds of tidy little stitches, all carefully placed, and it absolutely takes time. But honestly, it's nice to slow down for a minute, focus on just one thing, and spend a little bit of time being calm and still. I need that right now, and I suspect I'm not the only one. So no, it's not quick. And I won't pretend it is. But I can do slow things, and you can [...]
Alrighty then
Ahem. Yes. Yes this needed to happen. I mean yes, cute as is, successfully hits the 'thing that looks like another thing!' button in my head (a button which I suspect exists in your head as well, otherwise you wouldn't be here). But then when you make it into a pouch it hits that button And Also the 'theoretically useful' button (a button which I know damn well exists in my head and your head too because really there's no explanation for the number of jars and tins and boxes in our houses if it doesn't). And if you can [...]
Apparently not
Ahem. So. It appears I am not the only one amused (I say, looking askance at the viewership numbers on the instagram post where I introduced this particular project). Well fine then...let's see how absurd we can make this. Because really, quite a number of you instantly saw this and said yes, but what if also pouch. And well? I have the technology. So why not pouch!
Amusements
Ok really, I need to know, am I the only one amused? Because I very well might be (and really, that's totally ok, it will not be the first and hopefully not the last time that happens)! But if some of you are amused too...
Quick reminder
Quick reminder, fascism is bad, and women are people. If either of those ruffles your feathers, I think poorly of you and my adorable little nonsense isn't for you!
Excuses
Ahem. I am using you as an excuse. I am using you as an excuse, because when left to my own devices I tend not to do holiday stuff. But if I get to say 'it's for work,' then all of a sudden I'm quite susceptible to holiday amusements. These things happen. I'm honestly just running right towards anything that feels good right now, and all of these do (and two of them are free), so fuck it, let's lean into it. The 3-D hearts are Palpitation. I love them and they are almost certainly the thing I've knit the [...]
And still snowy
Ok I did my part. I knit a whole hat (a whole large hat, for my very large head, with a nice deep folded up brim) in a mere two days. Two snowy, cold, blustery days. Two snowy days which happened after a whole snowy week. Two snowy days which seem to have happened before a whole 'nother snowy week. We're at the 'around a foot of snow on the deck railing' stage of things. Which means going outside for photos is simply not happening. Which means we must continue to wait for the pattern (though I do plan to [...]
Still snowy
Still snowy. Still not going outside. Still quite content to work on this instead. I stand by my life choices. Though if one of you could make it melt enough for me to get pictures sometime in the next week or so that would be lovely. For I have heard a rumor that some of you wish to have your own version of these. And I'm happy to facilitate that...but I'm going to need to not get frostbite in the process.
