Lots of Business, Very Little Knitting
Pardon the uncharacteristic quiet. My non-knitting life has been intruding to an entirely unjustified degree on my knitting. I'm in the final week of a 6 month project and busy writing my little graduate student heart out. By the time I've met my writing quota for the day my arms ache too much to knit. Q and A
So I've been just thrilled by the response I've gotten to the patterns I've made available for sale. Seriously, thrilled. The Boy can attest to the rather ridiculous happy dance and squee of glee that accompanies most checks of my sales and website statistics. More people have bought my patterns than I ever thought possible, and I appreciate each and every one of those purchases. Shiny and New
Well, shiny. Not so much new. All the old stuff is still here, but the shinyness quotient has been raised. There are a few more bits yet to be added (like a way to sign up for email notification when a new pattern is released) but this is the new look. I should, in theory, be posting more frequently now, as the process is much easier. We'll see if the theory holds.
Delayed
Well that took a while. Sorry about that. There are grand plans to make the website all fancified and er functional. Lets just say the plans were more quickly made than implemented. Just under a week ago I wrote about my decision to start charging for some of my patterns. I went on at some length, likely too much. I have a tendency to over explain and perhaps even to justify. Filthy Lucre
Yes, I've decided to start trying to sell some of my patterns. You knew it was coming. Even the underpants gnomes are in it for the bucks. I've given this a lot of thought over the last several days and I've reached a few conclusions. I am not hoping to turn socks/ pattern writing/ knitting into a job or even into a substantial source of income. This website came into being with approximately 45 minutes of effort at 2:30 in the morning at the end of a very long week. I thought it would be a place to host one wee tiny simple pattern. I thought I'd be thrilled if a few dozen people found the pattern, and ecstatic if anyone ever actually knit the things. Turns out it's good to have low expectations. They are easier to exceed. Popped, Take Two
Much to my surprise, quite a few people at Ravelry seem to like my Popped socks. I'm oddly thrilled. It seems some kind souls are even actually knitting them with their very own yarn and needles and hands and knitting time. It's a rather nifty feeling. From their enthusiastic comments, it seems I may have successfully avoided writing a pattern for a llama saddle and indeed written one that results in socks!
