Ready to Absorb the Knowledge
I had the very best of intentions. Really I did. I had amassed all the needed materials. I had my books and pens and pencils. I had the much revered post it note flags and the handy notebook. I even had a bracing cup of hot, fresh tea. I was all set up at the dining room table so I couldn't drift off to sleep in an overly-comfy chair. I was ready to go. But you see, I also had a Levon, and he had rather different ideas for my afternoon. He made it quite clear that he was much [...]
Hard Work
Playing with a tiny knit mousie is hard work...you'd need a nap too if you were only a few weeks old. You may now all die of the excess cuteness. And just on the off chance that you are the sort of person who wants to watch someone else's cat fall (literally fall) asleep, you can do it over here. Not that any of you are that sort.
Does This Match My Eyes
Home safe, if a bit tired. We enjoyed our brief sojourn in the woods. Kitty has a name (Douglas MacArthur), and has been introduced to yarn. He picked out that blue one and I made him a wee toy. I'll check back in shortly with pictures of actual knitting.
Proof of Kitten
Kitten has a cold and so he, much like me when I have a cold, is making a rather amazing amount of snot. Unlike me when I have a cold, he is also good-natured, affectionate, and busily exploring everything in reach. This leaves me trying to take a picture of a wiggly and somewhat gooey ball of black fluff. I have never taken so many blurry pictures in my life. That said, his undeniable cuteness just might be visible in this one. I promise more knitting soon...no, really, I'm sure I'll be able to ignore the 12 ounces of purring [...]
An Interesting Evening
I was sitting at my computer, diligently typing away, and the doorbell rang. I opened the door, and my neighbor's son and his friend were on the porch. "Here," they said, "we got you a kitten." And sure enough, they were holding a kitten. A teeny tiny kitten. A nearly microscopic kitten. I've seen citrus fruits bigger than this kitten. It made for an exciting evening, and the timing was just spot on perfect (middle of exams, check; middle of book, check; leaving shortly for a trip, check). Anyone want to reassure me that this is a kitten, not a [...]
Guard Kitten
It seems it's more or less mandatory for knitters to have kittens. Or if not mandatory, at least strongly encouraged. I don't know if the knitting makes us more likely to like kittens (both require a certain tolerance for lint/fluff on your favorite black pants) or if the kittens make us more likely to like knitting (both require a certain tolerance for frustration). Either way, I have the requisite two kittens. Now it's usually Barry who makes an appearance here. He's the woolier of the two kittens. Or so I thought. It turns out that maybe Levon has a wooly [...]
Winner
As promised, the winner for the Barking Dog Yarns/Foliate giveaway is Sue of Alderwood Quilts. It looks like Sue already knows all about Barking Dog Yarns and will be adding a skein of Galaxy in the color California to her stash. I'll be in touch to sort everything out. And because I feel bad that not everyone can win, I set up a little promo for everyone else. If you buy Foliate, you can have any of my other patterns for free. Just put both Foliate and any other pattern in your ravelry cart, click on the use a coupon [...]
Brazen Hussy
I've completely abandoned all pretense of fidelity and become an absolutely brazen hussy. I have a new beau. Don't worry, The Boy knows all about it. My new suitor is a teeny tiny porch kitten. See? This little guy and I are totally courting. He's come to the porch from time to time this Spring (he naps on one of the chairs), but now he seems to have made a bit more of a commitment. Starting this past Friday, he's been on the porch every morning when we opened the door. He'll sit and make googly eyes at our cats [...]
Ironing, Now With More Stabbing
This is how I made my curtains. I'm telling you all about it because it's what I did (instead of knitting) for much of last week. That means I don't have much knitting to tell you about. It is likely not how you should make your curtains. You should probably do it the proper way. The way that involves lining, and special feet for your sewing machine, and possibly interfacing (whatever that actually is...I'm still unsure). The way that doesn't speak so poorly of your mental health. 1 - Buy an old house. The older the better. This ensures that [...]
