Tiny Nonsense

Permutation (plus giveaway)

I have a hard time knowing when to stop.  This was supposed to be a simple little hat.  Instead it turned into something of an adventure.  Allow me to introduce Permutation. It all started with that gray and pink hat.  It was a simple little thing.  That spiky stitch is lots of fun to do and a fabulous way to practice playing with two colors.  It would have been a lovely stand alone pattern. I mean just look how cute the top is! But I have a hard time leaving well enough alone, and before I was done with the [...]

Rainbow Sparkle Pony Revenge

There's obviously some sort of illicit substance coating this yarn.  That's the only explanation for why I'm actually still working on this.  I don't' think I've ever knit this much stockinette in my life. Still not sure if I love it or hate it...I mean I think I'll wear the heck out of it, but knitting it is not what you'd call scintillating.  How do you folks who knit things with lots of stockinette do it?

Still undecided

Still totally not sure which one I like better...what do you guys think?  Outside as I'm working it? Or inside as I'm working it? I know I like the mostly purl side best for the brim.  So, because I wanted a folded brim, I knit it with the mostly knit side facing out (so that when I cuff it, the mostly purl side will face out).  But that would be easy to swap around if you knew you wanted it the other way around.

A or B?

All that pesky perseverance paid off, I made it through the ribbing, and I'm on to the pretty bits. And I've had a bit of a lovely surprise.  The inside of this is turning out to be super interesting in it's own right.  I need to get a few more repeats done before I'll have a good sense of it, but it's very promising so far! The yarn is Tosh Merino Light in Calligraphy, and yes it is a single (and it's behaving quite well so far, which is always a bit iffy with singles).  Loving it so far!

Persevere

So I have a bit of a conflict.  First, I love nice deep cuffed brims on hats...four full inches minimum (to give you two inches of cuffed over fabric when it's folded).  Second, I get distracted about four rows into ribbing. That gets us to here. Which is about 3 inches of ribbing.  So I'm both bored out of my mind, and absolutely sure it needs at least another full inch to be as awesome as it can be.  Send help.

Time out

The rainbow sparkle pony hat is in time out.  There's every chance I'm just not the rainbow sparkle pony type.  I'll pause while you all collect yourselves and get over your shock. Meanwhile, something in rather more me colors seems to have found its way onto my needles. Funny how that happens!

Second try

This yarn is fighting me.  I'd turned it into a cowl once before, but didn't like where it was going so ripped it all back.  Now I'm thinking hat, and I keep having grand plans, and it keeps wanting to just hang out and do it's own thing. Someone tell me that I can just make a very very very boring hat (like 1 by 3 ribbing and that's it) and let the yarn do what it wants to do.  That's allowed, right? For folks asking, it is Stormy Day by Lemonade Shop.  Fair warning though, it's an opinionated yarn [...]

And also done!

It's been a productive couple of days.  The mitts are done too! Don't worry, they'll uncurl when they hit the water.  The cowl did (and it has longer stretches of stockinette), because the yarn is clearly magic! And again, in need of some end management and a good blocking.  But also done and rather grand!

And done!

Oh hey look, slippers! And yes, they need their proper photo shoot (and, um to be blocked...and to have their ends woven in).  But they are totally in the done pile!
