This is one of those tiny tiny things that likely matters to no one but me, but I deeply love how nicely these increases are mirrored.  It's a tiny bit fiddly, and I'll have to explain it all in the pattern, but wow is it satisfying to the part of my brain that thrives on this sort of thing!

It's grown!  First mitt is more or less sorted save for a thumb. And the second has leapt on the needles and gotten underway. And, as so often happens, the hat is being planned.  Because I intend to wear these all the time, and I totally want to have a hat to match!

So you know that line in a lot of mitt patterns where I tell you to set aside the thumb stitches on an extra needle or a bit of spare yarn?  Well if you have the option, I really recommend the bit of spare yarn.  Why? Because the yarn will be ever so much bendier than an extra needle would be.  And if you try the mitt on (which you should folks, you really really should), the yarn will give you a much better idea of how it will fit than a stiff needle would. I don't know about you, but I'm happily spending more time than usual tucked up with some yarn and needles for a few days.  And, not surprisingly, the cuff has grown. It's reached the point where it looks a little funny flat. No matter which side you're looking at. But if you whack it on a hand form, things improve dramatically!  That's rather nice if I do say so myself. I think we're going to need a matching hat, don't you?  It seems like the sort of thing that might come in handy (what with the looming January situation).

This project, as with oh so many projects, starts with a bit of ribbing. But before too long, you get to start doing something a bit more interesting. But first, first you need to put in your time with that ribbing.  There's just no way around it. Yarn is Squish DK by Spun Right Round in the color Spellbound, and it's yummy stuff!
