Still Fun
The happy yarn barrage (goodies for next year's book) continues unabated. Today's lovelies are from Malabrigo. We've got some Arroyo in Reflecting Pool. And some Twist in Sealing Wax. And yes, for those playing along at home, that is rather thick, and it might not be what you'd expect for socks...that's because it's turning into slippers. Oh and wow are they going to be nice!
Haul
So last time I showed off (just a bit) of the pretty from the trip to Maine. But I know you guys are here more for yarn than for general travel festivities. And don't worry, there was yarn. No really I checked. There was. First up, a bit of Malabrigo. And no, it's not local to Maine, but I strongly prefer to buy Malabrigo in person, and these four were too lovely to pass up! And when in Maine, you're pretty much contractually obligated to get a bit of Seven Sisters Arts. That contract? It totally covers String Theory too. [...]
Influence
So a little while ago, a friend said something along the lines of 'have you seen this yarn?' I allowed as how I had not and took a look. It was indeed lovely. Then I happened to notice that the yarn company happened to be vending at the Maine Fiber Frolic and asked, in a causal sort of way, why I hadn't had the foresight to arrange to be in Maine that weekend. A few minutes later, it was brought to my attention that air fare was shockingly reasonable. As was lodging. A few hours later, the trip was booked. [...]
Tacit (plus giveaway)
I know quite a few of you have been eagerly awaiting these. So, for anyone in a tearing hurry, let me just go ahead and say Tacit are out. You can grab them and cast on right now. Zipping
This really has more or less just fallen off the needles. It was faster than it has any right to be (even if it is only a tiny bit of knitting). The first one has now had a proper blocking and had its ends all tidily tucked away. Number two is off the needles (and here is shamelessly showing off its insides...which really I think are rather nifty) and waiting for its turn to be blocked. Temptation
So this awesome thing happens when you've got a few books and a whole bunch of patterns under your belt. You start to have a magic list in the back of your head of who does the best yarn. You know, the places you are sure will always always always have something beautiful to tempt you with. Hazel Knits is totally on that list (and this is not the first time I've fallen prey to their goodies). I've got two of their little treasures to play with for next year's book. You know that's teeny tiny, right? Yes, I do, and I'm also pretty sure it's the highest joy to stitch count ratio of any project ever. And you know not everyone is as fascinated with flared cuffs as you are, right? Nonsense. And even if it were true, the only way to help them learn is through constant exposure. So it's probably best to just back away quietly and let you knit the second one isn't it? Now you're learning...
Unabashed
I should have stopped being amused by this combination about half way through the hat. I did not. I remain completely and unapologetically amused and delighted. I'll let you know if the fascination wanes (or, more likely, if the yarn runs out). But for now, I'll be over here doing this.

So there's this thing where I have an idea, then I talk to some of my very favorite yarn makers, then they send me yarn, then I play with it. I believe technically it's called 'my job,' but really it feels like way too much fun to be a job. Two of the latest yarns to arrive (they're for next year's book) are from Blue Moon Fiber Arts.
