We have friends who make better than average children, and they've recently gone and made a new one. This gives me the perfect opportunity to test my theory that most anything you put on a baby's head will be adorable. Let's see if it extends to orange and green hats. I suspect it will...
Easy enough
So I love that you guys are enthusiastic about the idea of listing the sizing information for the sock patterns in the next book in multiple gauges. That actually makes my life secretly easier, as I may possibly have requested a couple of thicker yarns already. And if you guys are cool with it, then I don't have to have the internal debate about 'do folks know they could totally do this with skinny yarn instead? because they totally could do that.' Instead I can just say 'skinny yarn? You'll get these sizes. Thick yarn? You'll get these sizes.' and [...]
Yes please
Well that's just unreasonably lovely. And yes, yes it's simple. It's just leaves, and leaves are easy to knit. But there's something rather delightful about these. I can't quite decide if I want to hurry up and be done (so I can block it and pet it and generally admire it) or if I want to take my time (so I can have the pleasure of knitting it for a while longer).
I love this part
So as I mentioned, Curls 2 is off at the printer (yay) and will be out this summer (double yay). And that means it's totally time for me to diving in to the next book. One of the first steps is always getting yarn. I flashed some of the other pretty yarns for the new one a few days ago, but the mail fairy has brought me more in the meantime! That's Mrs. Crosby Hat Box in Roasted Chestnut. And that's Lorna's Laces Solemate in Manzanita. Both awfully yummy, and a good illustration of something I'm considering for this book. [...]
You’ll just have to trust me
So some things are awfully hard to photograph. The difference in texture between the pre & post blocking version of this yarn is one of them. Part of that's my fault (I didn't take a picture of the actual swatch before I soaked it, so you can't quite compare like with like just yet), but part of it is just yarn magic and not to be questioned.It looks like this before blocking. Pay special attention to the stretches of stockinette. See how there is a good bit of space between the stitches and between the legs of each stitch? But [...]

We're in the 'wait, what's going on here? Are you sure this is right?' stage of the project. But if my swatches can be trusted (and they usually can), this is going to be marvelous in a few more rounds. We're going to have to talk about yarn floofiness soon (that thing some magic yarns do where they puff up and become even more cohesive after blocking). So, now that Curls 2 is off to the printer (did I tell you guys about that? We should talk about that, look for more shortly!), it's time to start on next year's book. Anticlastic
Don’t tell anyone, but I sometimes wish it were socially acceptable to carry around a blanket. I realize that’s not generally encouraged for adults, but still the urge persists.
