Tiny Nonsense

Contrast

With the cuffs finished, my needles were empty (cough, mostly, cough), and I found myself in need of a project.  I'd had an idea bubbling away in the back of my mind for a while now, and this seemed like the perfect time to play with it.  It required two yarns though, so I knew there would be a fair amount of swatching. So first came this.  Oh, then this. Um, and then a little of this. And none of those are quite right.  Which is fine, they're swatches.  They're there to teach me things, not to be perfect.  And [...]

Zigzag

These are done, blocked, and ready to join the hat for their photo shoot.  Said photo shoot should happen tomorrow, assuming the weather and my determination to get things done hold out. I'm taken with them, really I am.  I was worried they (and really the hat that goes with them) would end up being too simple, but I think they're the good kind of simple.  The satisfying sort, not the boring sort.

All Year Long

I'm trying a little experiment.  From now through the end of the year, you can get 15% off anything in my ravelry shop with the code ALL YEAR LONG.  If you use that code, you'll also get a series of 6 emails from me (one every other month, starting in February and running through 2016), each with some sort of special discount or sale. I'm not saying what they'll be just yet, but they will only be available to folks who use the code now.  They'll be our little secret, and I won't be sending them to the regular mailing [...]

Boom

So the hat looked more or less like this a little while ago. Then came a quick little fit of knitting, and all of a sudden it looked like this. It's still due for a bit of a block, just to even things out and fluff it up a bit, but I'm rather taken with it. I wanted the top to do something very specific (sort of gathered, not slouchy at all, but with just a bit of extra volume up there), and it totally did what I had in mind.  The trick seemed to be doing all the decreases [...]

Help

I occasionally find myself typing 'knitting' into search engines and reveling in the things that pop up.  I've pulled out a few of my favorites (from the British Museum's marvelous online collection) to share this week.  Bonus points to whoever leaves the best caption in comments. "Didn't quite finish the Christmas knitting? I can help with that."
