Details

Alrighty.  As promised, details today, shiny new mini book tomorrow.  But, because there are a couple of different ways to get the new project, I thought I'd come today and spell everything out now, just so we're all on the same page. Some time late tonight or very early tomorrow morning, Rabble Rousers will go up for preorders.  That means the book's website will be up and the book will be up on ravelry and you'll be able to order it.  As usual, there's a special offer during the preorder period as a way of saying thank you to those of [...]

Duly Noted

Ok, you guys like the books.  I'll aim for doing at least one a month.  I may even spend a weekend sometime making and photographing a bunch and queuing them up for the next little while.  It's got to be faster than knitting for blog content, right (and yes, for those of you keeping track at home, it has now been a whole week since I knit a stitch...I'm going batty)? But fear not, the knitting delay is for a very very good cause.  The Boy and I are making some behind-the-scenes improvement.  We (by which I mean mostly he, [...]

Stacks

Somebody asked about these little piles of stacked books in the comments the other day.  I'll be honest, I make them all the time.  Really--all the time.  The Boy will vouch for this.  Once the idea of making little compositions with the words on the spines of books comes into your head, you'll never look at a used bookstore or the library booksale the same way again.  I can totally see doing a whole art project with nothing but perfect pictures of stacks of books. But you'll note it's been a little while since I've shared one of them.  That's [...]

Home

We're back home and, as predicted, the knitting aspirations were wildly overly optimistic.  I didn't knit one single stitch.  The second sock remains a neatly wound ball of yarn.  I would feel bad about this if only I could muster the energy to care.  At the moment, that's beyond me.  But, this little knitting break is making me sort of twitchy, so I should be back to the needles soon.  In the meantime, I'll be busy getting everything ready for the Rabble Rousers launch.  That starts next Tuesday (and I have all sorts of grand plans), so look for lots [...]

Hope Springs Eternal

Look, it's a sock.  One lone sock.  All by itself.  Rumpled and adrift. It's tough to be a sock around these parts lately.  The rate at which you get made, to say nothing of the rate at which your mate may get made, leaves something to be desired. I'm off on a tiny bit of a trip, and this sock's mate is the only knitting I'm taking.  Somehow I still don't think this will be enough.  Everyone keep a good thought for the sock, let it know it's not alone, even if it doesn't yet have a partner.

So Then I Fixed the Furnace

Some time yesterday afternoon I decided I'd clean up the kitten corner in the basement.  (The corner where the kittens' litter boxes live...the kittens themselves have free reign of the house.  Don't worry that they're stuck downstairs or anything, two of them are in my office right now as I type.)  We have some super cheap-o carpet (the kind from Home Depot meant for going in garages) under the boxes to keep them from bringing anything out on their paws.  Every now and then, it's good to replace that carpet. In the process, I noticed a puddle.  A puddle under [...]

You Should Know

There are a few things you should probably know about me.  First, I often take my socks on field trips to things like yarn store events or TNNA.  When I take them on these field trips, I like them to look their best, so I often take them on sock blockers.  Second, despite being a tiny bit nuts about wanting my house to be clean, I don't really care all that much about my car.  It's not that it's dirty exactly.  It's just that things tend to migrate to the trunk and stay there.  Like that bocce ball set I [...]

More Science

Back in May (before the earth went hurtling into the sun and it scorched us all with its searing blinding death rays), I told you guys about my sage plants and the delicious syrup we made from their flowers.  In the meantime, we've made another batch or two of syrup and had many a happy glass of lemonade.  Then somewhere along the way, the world exploded in a ball of scorching fire, we were stunned into neglect by the desperate heat, and our sage plants got a bit...um...tired.  So for the moment, there are no more sage flowers. However, if [...]

The Order of Things

By this point, you guys know me.  You know there is always a Plan.  Now the details may change, and the specifics are sometimes a bit hazy, but the existence of the Plan is constant.  The Plan keeps me on track.  The Plan is how I know what the next 4 books will be.  The Plan is all-knowing and all-powerful. But I also tend to keep the Plan private.  I figure you guys don't particularly want to know the details of what I'm plotting for three books from now.  That's years down the road, and if I chat too much [...]
