Better Late than Never
I've been dreadfully delinquent and shamefully slow in posting the winner of the truly scrumptious Liberty's Yarn. It's all my fault, and I don't have particularly good excuses. I'll go pick knots out of laceweight for penance. Without further delay, the lucky winner is Tamara. I'll be in touch to arrange delivery. Thanks to everyone who said nice things about Sybaritic, I'm thrilled you guys like this one! All the sock patterns are still on sale through Monday night, so if there's something you've been considering, this is the time.
Thanksgiving Pizza and Other Tales
I believe in traditions. Traditions are important. They help remind you who you are. Now that said, I really don't believe you need to borrow anyone else's traditions, you're far better off making up your own. And so it is with the Thanksgiving Pizza. About a year before The Boy and I married, we (or it may have been just me) suffered from a bout of hysteria and decided it would be 'fun' to have 9 of our closest relatives over for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Now this might actually have been fun if the insanity hadn't set it. I [...]
Sale
I...um...accidentally fled the country in search of the Traditional Thanksgiving Pizza. I'll be back home later this evening and will explain all that, but in the meantime, I'm having a sale. All sock patterns are $4.00 from now until Monday evening. Avoid the lines and the infuriating Christmas music, stay home and knit in your pajamas instead. It's better for your sanity and your feet.
And the Winner is…Delayed
Thanks so much for all of the really lovely comments about the most recent socks! They seem to be a favorite, and I can't wait to see them knit up in lots of lovely yarns. I had every intention of announcing the winner of the prize yarn today, but the random number site I usually use is having hiccups, so I'll have to try again tomorrow.
Sybaritic
The sun came out on Sunday, and The Boy was gracious enough to go outside on a little photo shoot. I spent quite a lot of time sitting on the porch railing trying to keep my toes still, and he spent an equal amount of time cheerfully tramping through the (shamelessly overgrown and scandalously weed filled) flower beds. I'm fairly sure we confirmed the neighbors' suspicions that we are a bit crazy. I think it was worth it though, as I now have even more pictures of my feet. The pattern is up, and you likely know the drill by [...]
Frilly
The pretty frilly fluffy pink socks are going up Monday. At least that's the plan. If the sun comes out some time tomorrow, the plan has a very good chance of succeeding, as the pattern is all finished except for a final picture. In the meantime, you get a depressing gray gloomy pic of them taken on the porch in the rain. Come back Monday for the pattern and a chance to win some yummy goodness from Liberty's Yarn.
Deep in the Heart of Texas
Well I didn't get eaten by (or even see) a coyote. I did, however, see an armadillo (dead), a donkey, a few sheep, horses, cows (all alive), and several goats (quite lively). No, we didn't go to a petting zoo, these were just all hanging out by the side of the road as we drove around. There were also a variety of spiny plants that would have been perfect for hanging socks on. Alas, my organizational skills were not up to par and I never managed to find picturesque plants when I had completed socks with me. Instead I found [...]
Packing
I believe I may have a problem. I am going on a trip. I leave tomorrow morning and return Monday evening. I have three socks that need toes, and I had planned to bring them with me. I've just realized that this is likely not enough knitting. I have two layovers (about an hour each), at least three hours of driving, and a fair amount of sitting around talking with family. That's hours and hours and hours of knitting time. A toe takes about an hour, so three toes will likely take about three hours. That's not enough knitting. This [...]
Up and Away
Lots of little bits today, and no overarching theme. Is scattered a theme? No? Could we pretend it is? First, some business. Today's lucky winner is Darcy! She will be getting a skein of lovely yarn from Dicentra Designs in her favorite color, Opal Creek. I'll be in touch to work out the details. Next, knitting progress. I've actually been knitting rather a lot, I'm just keeping it secret to spite you. All will be revealed in time, but for now I can show you these. They're almost done and I'm just itching to finish them so I can hurry [...]
