So, there's no way to make the argument for these being terribly practical little beasts. Because they're knit cupcakes, and practical isn't really what you're going for if you're making a knit cupcake. But then again... I mean maybe you need a pin cushion? I suppose you could maaaaaaaaybe make the case for a pin cushion being practical? Especially if it has space inside to store more pins? Advance planning
So, the cupcakes are just about ready to come out (if all goes according to plan, they'll be out on April 16, because I'm pretty sure the day after tax day we could all use a cupcake). But, on the off chance you're planning to cast some on the moment they come out, I want to send you on a scavenger hunt before the pattern drops. I'm coming to love my scraps bin. I used to be fairly ruthless about throwing out little bits of yarn. If a yarn leftover was under 100 yards or so I'd decide I was never really going to use it for anything and just chuck it. I got distracted
I should...I should be talking to you about the speckled hat and all its pom-pomy goodness. And I will. For it is coming out in just a second here. But...well...somehow I'm distracted. I don't think you can blame me. Yes, there will be a pattern (really, I can't remember the last time I knit something and didn't' make a pattern, so it's pretty much always safe to assume there will be a pattern).
