Make two
You'll forgive me if I mostly take a shortcut and say 'hey, look, second slipper...pretty much the same as the first slipper' and mostly leave the details to your imagination. I trust you can handle it!
Flat
Does it look too weird flat? Sometimes this stuff looks weird flat and makes more sense on something foot shaped. Let's borrow a pretend foot for a minute and see if that helps give the idea. Someone always always always asks, so the thing the knitting is on is called a last. It's the thing they use to make shoes on. If you want them, go somewhere like ebay or etsy and search for "shoe last." Throw the word vintage in there if you want old ones (probably wood) instead of new ones (probably plastic). If you get them in [...]
It’s been a while
If you've been around for a long long long long time you might recognize these. But we're talking years and years and years. They're my very first slipper pattern. They went away at the beginning of the year (when I took everything down for the massive reformatting project that I thought would be the main task of 2020, you know, before we all switched our attention to 'survive a pandemic' and 'see if our democracy completely collapses or limps along for a bit longer'), and they've been one of the most requested patterns while they've been away. I wanted to [...]
Don’t worry!
Were you worried? Were you worried there was no new knitting? Because you didn't need to be worried about that...there was totally knitting happening. Just sometimes I take a little break from showing it to you so I can rest and recharge and get caught up (and possibly even get a bit ahead). Really though, that's not a bad thing...I'm pretty good at taking pictures along the way to share with you when I come back! Yarns are Greenwich Worsted by June Pryce Fiber Arts in the color Stormy Days (that's the gray one) and Marsh Mohair by Lichen and [...]
All Wrapped Up
Did you missed one of the countdown days? Or maybe someone missed your subtle hints and didn't sneak that special something you had your eye on into your library? Well let's do a little end of the year sale to help out with that! Everything in my ravelry shop and my payhip shop is 15% off through the end of the day, eastern time, January 3 with the code ALL WRAPPED UP (but check your email if you're on the mailing list, mailing list folks will want to use that code instead)! And I will totally try to remind everyone [...]
Light
The days are getting just the tiniest bit longer here, and I swear every extra minute of daylight feels like a gift. Though full disclosure, filling my office window with these might help that along a little bit. Normally I'm Little Miss Grays and Creams, but that's just not cutting it in December. Especially *this* December. Here's hoping you have something that brings you as much joy to brighten up your days too!
Countdown 24
All three Curls books are on sale for 25% off on ravelry or payhip with the code COUNTDOWN (it works for any or all of the books, just put whatever you want in your cart at once if you want more than one of them). These books are why I'm doing this. Well, let me explain. These books were popular enough that they made me brave enough to actually say, out loud, in front of other people, that I was going to do this full time as my real job. Now to be fair, I was a grad student at [...]
Countdown 23
Fine Things for Plain Occasions is on sale for 25% off on ravelry or payhip with the code COUNTDOWN. Every once in a great long while you get a chance to do something exactly how you want with absolutely no thought for whether anyone else will be as amused by it as you are. That's what this book was for me. Knitting patterns inspired by vintage etiquette books? Yup! Hardback book with a freaking ribbon bookmark because your inner six year old knows that ribbon bookmarks marks are the best thing in the world? Of course! Photos taken on a [...]
Countdown 22
Silk Road Socks is on sale for 25% off on ravelry or payhip with the code COUNTDOWN. This is where it started. Well, sort of. Silk Road Socks was my very first book, many many years ago. But I published it with someone else (mostly because I didn't realize publishing books all by yourself was something a person could actually do, and I certainly not something I could actually do). And as I have always had more opinions than sense and I do not play well with others, I was never quite happy with the first version of the book. It [...]
