Well That Was Fast

You guys rock.  All the extra copies of Silk Road Socks are now spoken for!  They're all in the mail headed to their new homes.  I'm ridiculously glad they're going somewhere where they'll be used (books would rather be used than hang out in closets).  And, if you missed them, the e version is still available through ravelry. I'm off to TNNA tomorrow.  Which means today, I'm running around like a crazy person trying to get at least three days worth of stuff done.  A graceful and serene thing to see, I assure you.  But, on the off chance you're [...]

Back of the Closet

In preparing for the event at Knots, I stumbled across a few copies of Silk Road Socks.  I had thought they were all sold out (and had been feeling horribly guilty for what the used copies were selling for on Amazon), but it turns out there were a handful hiding out way in the back of the closet.  I took them with me to Knots, and most of them found homes with knitters there.  But I've got a few left.  And I do mean a few...like 16. From time to time, I get messages from people who really wish they [...]

Just a Hint of Crazy

Knots on Saturday was so much fun.  I'll confess I was nervous.  I was actually fairly convinced that either no one would come or that people would come and would tell me my books suck.  Or maybe someone would pick up a sock, turn it inside out, unweave the end, and start unraveling it.  Or perhaps someone would bring some sort of specially trained small child, one covered in grape jelly and armed with magic markers, and encourage it to roll around on the knitting.  Really.  This is the stuff I found myself worrying about the night before.  This isn't [...]

Now With Knitting

You guys are awesome.  Thank you so much for writing the amazon reviews.  I very much appreciate it.  And I will keep proding them to get it shifted over to 'in stock' and to get it listed on amazon's international sites. In the meantime, I will also keep knitting on this. I've become rather smitten with it.  You'd think that would mean it would click along quickly.  Alas, no.  It seems that I've only got time to knit on it for 10 minutes here and 10 minutes there.  Somehow this continued not knitting really slows down the completion of the [...]

Blatant Solicitation

As part of the long and winding process of getting Book the Second out in the world, I'm working on getting it up and running on Amazon.  Right now the page for it is live, though it lists the book as temporarily out of stock (this is a pernicious lie, I know for a fact the book is sitting in their warehouse and I've got the tracking info to prove it, their computers are just having a hard time believing it's true). It's important to have the book on Amazon.  It's by far the biggest single channel for book sales, [...]

Wanna Come Say Hi?

Sooooo, wanna visit?  I'm having a little book party/trunk show for The Knitter's Curiosity Cabinet this weekend! I'll be at Knots (Knitting on the Square) in Chardon this Saturday from noon till 5pm.  The store will have books (and I've even worked out a way to get you the e version if you buy the paper version in the store that day), I'll bring samples from the book, and there will be lots of chatting and knitting.  I'd love it if you would come say hi!

Done

I love my job.  I do.  I fully realize how amazing it is that I get to do this for a living.  I am absolutely stunned (and more than a little touched) by just how many of you have helped me be able to do this.  My life rocks. That said, I would very much like not to go to the post office tomorrow.  Maybe not the day after that either.  You see this little basket?  It's full of the receipts and customs forms I've gotten from the post office since Wednesday.  Several of those receipts are a few inches [...]

Lest You Think I’d Stopped

So just because my dining room has been turned into shipping central (with an annex in my living room and another in my car) doesn't mean I've stopped knitting.  Though to be fair, the knitting has been slowed down a tiny bit.  If you lug hundreds of pounds of boxes around all day, turns out your arms are tired by the end of the day.  But, there is a wee bit of knitting to show, see? This is the reincarnation of the little mistake I showed you the other day.  I'm loving it, it's much better at this size.  And, [...]

And Yet More Progress

This is oddly thrilling, it looks all official somehow. Though to be fair, it's become ever so slightly less thrilling as they've sat in my living room for four days.  I'm one of those nuts who really wants a tidy house.  I like everything put away.  I clean off my desk at the end of every day so there's nothing but the computer, its gizmos, and a lamp.  So the pile of boxes is driving me a wee bit batty. But, that little bit of batty is providing excellent motivation.  Yesterday I took all of these to the post office. [...]
